Central management and cloud dashboard streamline network monitoring while connectivity hiccups need addressing
I use Cisco products and Meraki MS Switches. I am a user on the user side. Network security is handled by our firewalls and other solutions. I have not explored the area of network management AI in Meraki MS Switches. For other switches, when you buy one, you can just start configuring, connect it to the network, and it works. With Meraki MS Switches, you have to first whitelist the MAC address, let it have internet, then you can manage it. They're deployed on-premises. They're quite acceptable, so I recommend them to those who want to use Meraki MS Switches. The biggest benefit that I see in Meraki MS Switches is central management and the cloud dashboard. I rate Meraki MS Switches 8 out of 10.

Pros

"It integrates well."
"I use it on a daily basis and I find it to be quite stable."
"The most valuable feature of Huawei is that it already provides integration with any automation tool."
"Huawei is very cost-effective and they have all the features, so I would not have a problem recommending it to anybody."
"For small shops and IT businesses, this solution comes at an affordable price point."
"Huawei Ethernet Switches also have effective network switching features."
"My advice for anybody who is considering this product is not to be afraid of it, just because Huawei is not a true American brand."
"The solution is scalable and can accommodate as many devices as needed."
"We have about 20 switches across five offices in USA, Europe and India, and we can all manage all of them from one dashboard."
"The most valuable features are ease of use and configuration. It has a cloud-based configuration that makes it easy."
"To me, this is a product that meets all of the needs that anyone could possibly have for a networking device."
"The stability and workflow of Meraki MS Switches have most improved our network management."
"The solution's most valuable aspect is the ease of stacking, the configuration on the MS Switches is very good, as well as its ability to assign the LANs."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to segment my infrastructure between phones, security systems, and other tasks."
"Easy to set up, stable switches with good accessibility that makes it quicker to identify problems, find solutions, and fix problems."

Cons

"The configuration is very difficult even for someone who is already familiar with the configuration process."
"If I have one potential issue, it is that the technical support does not understand English so well."
"I would like to see some improvements in the access layer switch that is available in Aruba."
"The documentation needs to be better"
"I've found that the Huawei switches around the core fail, or at least the 9300 series do. I've had to move to Cisco."
"It’s hard to get technical support."
"The technical support is technically savvy, but the communication via English is not so easy."
"The product’s pricing needs improvement. It could be more stable as well."
"What could be improved is that when a switch disconnects from the internet, you can't make any changes to that switch."
"Losing customers due to the means of enforcement of the subscription service is pretty ill-advised."
"The solution could be simplified a bit."
"The product has no CLI."
"We had some dashboard licensing issues, maybe because their method of collecting data from the user needs to be more streamlined."
"The documentation could be more extensive. For example, it could describe more scenarios. It would be great if they could incorporate AI engines into the switching infrastructure and firewall so you can configure it to prevent intrusion. They have intrusion prevention and detection, but they could enhance it by incorporating AI into their firewall."
"Its troubleshooting features need work."
"Meraki MS Switches, including their licensing, are somewhat expensive, particularly when compared with competitor solutions like HP."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is cheaper than Cisco."
"Huawei provides much better performance for the same price, even when taking into account very aggressive commercial policies."
"The licensing costs depend on the negotiations that a user has with Huawei...There is a need to make some additional payments apart from the licensing costs attached to the solution."
"Huawei comes with a lot of features out of the box that you have to pay extra for with other products. They do charge extra in the licensing for certain additional features."
"We have a one-year license. There are no additional costs besides the licensing fee."
"This is an affordable solution."
"Huawei Ethernet Switches are very competitively priced, almost 4 out of 10.However, the low price point may sometimes raise concerns about quality for some companies."
"Huawei has the same licensing model as Cisco, so both are working on the subscription model."
"We don't use standard licensing. Most of the time, we use the advanced security model. If there is a drawback to Meraki, it is the cost, but you also have to evaluate it based upon the other factors that you do get. Their support is really good; their hardware is really good. The ease of configuration and deployment is really good, but it is more expensive than most."
"I don't have an issue with the price of this solution."
"The pricing is overvalued in relation to the product's performance."
"The yearly maintenance fee is $100 and you can purchase the switches used for about $200 each."
"Its price is definitely competitive."
"I rate the price of Meraki MS Switches a two out of ten."
"One key challenge often encountered is the perception that strategic products like Cisco and Meraki tend to be more expensive than alternatives like Aruba."
"Meraki is not an expensive switch, like Cisco."
