Offers high performance and dependable support for fast storage needs
The most valuable feature of IBM FlashSystem is its robust back code. When integrated properly into the environment and configured according to the guidelines, it provides a very solid infrastructure that does the job on demand. Additionally, IBM FlashSystem offers competitive pricing and reliable performance. The hardware is dependable, ensuring that it functions effectively when the setup is done correctly.

Flexible, allowing us to provide NAS and SAN solutions with the same hardware
According to my experience, for certain HPC environments, we encounter certain Memory/CPU limitations when we have a large number of IOPS. This is why, in order to support such loads, several cabs are required in parallel, complicating the configuration and administration. Another handicap is the management of the LACP that, when we are talking about environments with less than 20 calculation nodes, may not balance correctly despite setting the RR option.

Pros

"The speed of the unit is its best feature. It performs very well."
"This solution is convenient, user-friendly, convenient and reliable."
"Virtualization of external storage, while adding cache and speed to the external storage."
"Parsing is the most valuable feature inside IBM Spectrum Virtualize software, which allows us to virtualize any third-party storage for IBM or non-IBM systems."
"The solution allows for easy migrations from previous products or vendors via its embedded storage virtualization function."
"This is highly reliable storage."
"One of the valuable features is the performance, it is one of the best in the market."
"This storage has incredible performance, the I/O is awesome."
"We are very happy with this solution as it brings us the scalability and stability of Data Ontap and the versatility of NetApp solutions in order to provide different types of services for our customers' requirements (NAS, CIFS, FC / FCoE)."
"You have the ability to connect a third-party storage back end, EMC VMAX in our case, and have all NetApp functionalities available."

Cons

"IBM should improve its data reduction development."
"One area for improvement is in the GUI, where host clusters are not properly dealt with. With Hypervisor host clusters, all hosts must see the same volumes in the same order. Using the concept of a “host-group” has been around (even with IBM) for many years, so why not with the V7000?"
"The stability of the solution isn't great; we have had a lot of issues with discs over the years."
"This is an expensive product and if the price were reduced it would be better."
"We had issues when attempting to do a flash, we hope to resolve it soon."
"Support is horrible. It takes weeks to get simple answers."
"My advice to anybody who is considering this system is not to do it. I do not recommend it; it is a big no."
"The product needs to improve their scalability and the price."
"We have had some performance issues."
"According to my experience, for certain HPC environments, we encounter certain Memory/CPU limitations when we have a large number of IOPS."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing has been very competitive for the last few years. IBM got to the point where they changed the pricing model and we feel very comfortable with the pricing. It's very competitive. Over the last two years, IBM has been coming up with all kinds of interesting promos, especially for the SMB systems. That makes it very competitive price-wise and in terms of performance..."
"There are no licensing fees, it is a one-time purchase of the IBM FlashSystem."
"My customers got the IBM FlashSystem bundle offer. It was a one-time purchase for three years of service. The price would depend on the storage size and could reach between $25,000 to $55,000."
"The cost is pretty high in terms of licensing. We pay at least $100,000 USD in licensing fees for the storage."
"The cost of the IBM FlashSystem is lower than the HPE solution."
"The solution has good pricing, but it is not cheaper."
"IBM V7000 has a new license and price structure which provides intuitive licensing based on the functions customers wish to enable and use the most."
"You purchase it as a bundle and the price is comparable."
