Parallel data processing streamlines operations while cost and cloud integration challenge adoption
The cost of the solution is on the more expensive side, which is a concern for me. Additionally, its promotion and interaction with cloud applications are limited. The cloud version is only available in AWS, and in the Middle East, it is not well-developed in the Azure environment. For the cost to be reduced, it should match competitors. Many features need to be incorporated on the cloud.

Provides self-repair features, but the setup is complex
We use the product for online applications. We use it in the financial industry The product has self-repair features. The tool tunes itself. It separates compute from storage. We can scale storage and compute separately. The setup is complex. Oracle is a complex tool. I have been using Oracle…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The benefit is really because of the additional speed that we have and, truth be told, the more updated ETL processes and the revamped scheduler in general."
"Netezza is an easy-to-use data warehouse appliance; it's extremely fast with a low cost and the customers run their BI and advanced analytics in a very flexible manner."
"Data compression. It was relatively impressive; I think at some point we were getting 4:1 compression if not more."
"Data compression. It was relatively impressive. I think at some point we were getting 4:1 compression if not more."
"The performance has meant that we reclaimed many hours in our batch window."
"Those reports were improved from a couple of hours to minutes."
"Netezza provides outstanding performance for structured data."
"The data governance prospect... from what I've seen, that is a really powerful tool as well, to help with data lineage and keeping track of that."
"The solution is used for analytics and it works for our data security needs."
"It provides Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) capabilities by default to address data security issues."
"With Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, things are much simpler. Creating a structure, initializing the servers, extending the servers, those are all things that are very, very easy. That's the main reason we use it."
"I loved the simplicity of loading the data and simply relying on the self-tuning capabilities of ADW."
"It is an extremely scalable solution since you can dynamically change the resources as some other cloud solutions."
"A very good integration feature that restricts access to unauthorized people."
"The product has self-repair features."
"Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse is used globally to deliver extreme performance on large Financial data sets."

Cons

"Netezza does not perform well with a significant volume of individual record operations."
"The solution could implement more reporting tools and networking utilities."
"I can't extend the storage, only up to 6x compress of data."
"Since it is an appliance, individual components within the appliance cannot be scaled."
"The hardware has a risk of failure. They need to improve this."
"Community support. There was none, or very little, especially when using add-on software (e.g. building functions, MapReduce, R, Lua, etc.)."
"IBM Netezza Performance Server could improve its interface, support for big data, and APA-based connectivity should be available."
"Administration of this product is too tough. It's very complex because of the tools which it's missing."
"I would like to see Application Express and Oracle R Enterprise fully supported, and I would like to see Oracle Data Mining supported as a front end."
"My main suggestion for Oracle is the configuration and key values that come for JSON files. When we create a table, especially if you see in our RedShift or some other stuff, if I create a table on top of a JSON file with multiple array columns or superset columns, those column values create some difficulty in Oracle."
"Sometimes the solution works differently between the cloud and on-premises. It needs to be more consistent and predictable."
"The setup is complex."
"We are not satisfied with the technical support. Their understanding is lacking."
"The solution could be improved by allowing for migration tools from other cloud services, including migration from Amazon Redshift, RDS, and Aurora."
"One of the major problem is creating custom tablespace. The ADB serverless option doesn't support custom tablespace creation, which could cause issues during on-premise database migration that requires specifically named tablespace. There should be an option to create customized tablespace."
"It doesn't work well when you have unstructured data or you need online analytics. It is not as nice as Hadoop in these aspects."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"For me, mainly, it reduces my costs. It's not only the appliance cost. There are also support costs and a maintenance costs. It does reduce the costs very drastically."
"The annual licensing fees are twenty-two percent of the product cost."
"Expensive to maintain compared to other solutions."
"Netezza is a costly solution. It does serve a specific purpose but it's costlier than what's available in the market, if you go to the cloud."
"The pricing is very expensive. It has a lot CPUs with a lot of components in it. It also has built-in redundancy for resiliency reasons."
"The solution has a yearly licensing fee, and users have to pay extra for support."
"You pay as you go, and you don't pay for services that you don't use."
"We pay approximately $70,000 per month. The cost includes maintenance and support."
"The solution is expensive."
"ROI is high."
"Cloud solutions are cheaper, but in the long run, they may not be much cheaper. They certainly have a lower initial cost. The licensing is yearly, and it is based on the size of the hardware and the number of users."
"Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse's pricing is fair and reasonable compared to the other cloud vendors."
"The price depends on the configuration we choose."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is a low price and ten is a high price, I rate the pricing an eight."
