Unified data workflows have improved reporting quality and now support better decisions
The best features Pyramid Analytics offers include a broad range of features, which I think is one of the advantages of it. It has a lot of connectors and a lot of different capabilities. I would say end-to-end capabilities is one of the nice features of it. Regarding the end-to-end capabilities and lots of connectors, I found the connectors most valuable. If you are trying to do Snowflake, SQL server, or any of the normal database platforms that you see in the cloud or on-premises, it has those connectors built in. You don't have to worry about writing custom drivers. That is a nice feature to have. Pyramid Analytics has impacted my organization positively in that I use it for my clients' organizations. For my organization, it is great because it gives me a technology platform that clients enjoy using and I am proficient with. For my clients, it is about delivering on their aspirations in terms of what they want to do with their data and where they want to head in their organization. This is definitely a tool that we can use in order to get there. After implementing Pyramid Analytics for my clients, I have seen measurable outcomes and specific improvements, such as having a single platform that gets them from the raw data to the endpoint reporting. I think that streamlining has a positive effect on the quality of the outputs. The quality of the outputs definitely leads to better decision making.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"I have found the auto-generated document very useful as well as the main keywords that are highlighted, which are used for the search functionality within IBM Watson Explorer."
"Previously we'd have a set of health and safety analysts who would be the key focal points for doing work to understand health and safety risks; so a very small number of people, but through WEX and through our Watson HSEQ solution, we've managed to get engagement across at least one-third of our workforce, so over 1,300 people, and a 25% reduction in health and safety incidents."
"The valuable feature of Watson Explorer for us is data entities, and being able to see hidden insights from within unstructured data."
"The ability to easily pull together lots of different pieces of information and drill down in a smarter way than has been possible with other analytics tools is key. Watson is all based on a set of AI and deep learning, machine-learning capabilities, and it is looking behind the scenes at some relationships that you likely would not have spotted on your own. It's pulling things together, categorizing some things, that are not something that you might have seen on your own."
"Implementing the solution really helped with manual labor, it takes care of a lot of FT work."
"We take natural language that was happening in our repositories and our application and then feed it to the Watson APIs. We receive JSON payloads as an API response to get cognitive feedback from the repository data."
"I really can't talk enough about the team."
"IBM has been working with Bradesco since 1968, I think, and the support is very good, with a team of 10 IBM employees working every day, 24 hours, inside the bank in Sao Paolo."
"The features I find most valuable are 'Discover,' 'Formulate,' and 'Model.' I use them regularly to build logic and create reports for my job."
"Overall, I think Pyramid Analytics is the top visualization tool because it is easier to work with, and it has lots of features, which depends on how you are going to use it."
"The on-premise version has quite good scalability."
"Pyramid has a wide level of uses, as it's a complete ETL process and has a good level of connecting to a lot of data sources."
"Pyramid Analytics positively impacts my organization by enabling me to communicate effectively with my direct supervisor, who sometimes does not fully understand the scope of my program, by allowing me to demonstrate data that showcases my contribution and proves that I provide good, cost-effective care while maintaining the lowest rates of amputation, re-amputation, and revision rates in the nation, which is value that transcends mere appointment counts."
"Pyramid Analytics has positively impacted our organization in these areas."
"It offers a wide range of analytics options including statistics and visualizations, as well as prediction capabilities, allowing users to make forecasts based on the latest data."
"Pyramid Analytics has positively impacted my organization by allowing us to analyze sales data and identify opportunities regarding how to use the budget and where to allocate it to get more sales."

Cons

"More cognitive feedback would be good. The natural language analysis is great, the sentiment analyzers are great. But I would just like to see more... innovation done with the Watson platform."
"The solution is expensive."
"Much of IBM operates this way, where they have sets of tools that are in the middleware space, and it becomes the customer's responsibility or the business partner's responsibility to develop full solutions that take advantage of that middleware. I think IBM's finding itself in that spot with Watson-related technologies as well, where the capabilities to do really interesting and useful things for customers is there, but somebody still has to build it. Is that going to be the customer? Are they going to be willing to take on that responsibility themselves"
"It is a little bit tricky to get used to the workflow of knowing how to train Watson, what can be provided, what can't be, how to provide it, how to import, export, and what it means every time you have to add a new dictionary or something of the like."
"It needs better language support, to include some other languages. Also, they should improve the user interface."
"I think we'll get it to a 10, but I think at the moment it's got to be a good eight or nine out of 10 at least."
"No, it's not yet stable."
"We haven't used it in production yet so I can't answer this."
"It would be desirable to have the possibility to generate a data dictionary, detailing the original physical tables, renamed fields, and derived fields."
"Pyramid Analytics could be improved to be more user-friendly. I thought the most difficult reporting tool was Tableau, but I found Pyramid Analytics to be somewhat more complex."
"There is room for improvement in terms of the user interface, particularly when it comes to modifying connections between filters and visual components in a dashboard."
"There is room for improvement in terms of documentation and examples, especially for newcomers like me who are learning both business intelligence and Pyramid."
"Some things that are easily accomplished in Power BI are more complicated in Pyramid Analytics."
"I found Pyramid Analytics to have some reliability issues; there was a time when the service was down for about a week, impacting our development and client dashboards, which should not happen, as data products should always be operational."
"I think one thing is that Pyramid Analytics can sometimes have a slow loading speed, especially with large data pools, and the interface could be much more modern."
"I find that this is quite a heavy, time-consuming tool for developers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive."
"The licensing cost is not excessively expensive, but it does increase with the addition of new features and modules."
