It provides printable reports and security configuration advice.
We were about to receive a group level audit when we deployed Idera SQL Secure. In a previous audit, we had received some bad ratings and advice on security for our SQL Server instances. Idera SQL Secure comes bundled with the best practices rules, advice and polices from Microsoft and other standards organizations. It is able to take snapshots of the current state of the servers for which it was configured to monitor, match that state against these best practice rules, and present you with a report. With that report, you can take action on what is right or wrong. With this tool at hand, we were able to fix all of our issues, but there were a few which didn't apply to our specific case. Furthermore, our Information Security Officer and internal auditing department are now able to monitor better and have a clear picture on the security state of our SQL Server instances at any point in time.

Auditing has become tamper-proof and now secures sensitive financial transaction data
The most useful feature of Oracle Audit Vault is its ability to ensure that audits are immutable, as mandated by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs guidelines whenever an audit is happening for a single transaction, mainly for financial transactions. It separates the Oracle databases' information that is being audited and stores it in a separate location where no user has access, including the Oracle Audit Vault admin, ensuring that no one can change or modify that particular record, providing utmost security. User activity reports in Oracle Audit Vault are fantastic, informative, and specific. When a user makes any changes, both the pre-change values and the post-change values are captured and presented to the auditors perfectly, showing what the particular column had before and after the update, along with the user who made the change and the time of the change. Regarding automated policy enforcement in Oracle Audit Vault, I have experience with it, and I find it very important. Oracle Audit Vault fully supports compliance management for companies, with no doubt about its capability to maintain compliance from both audit and security threat perspectives. The correlation engine in Oracle Audit Vault is effective. It includes a data firewall as part of its features, so the threat mechanism allows users to block, snip, and capture all threats happening in the network.

Pros

"Shut up and pay."
"Audit Vault is a good Oracle tool to collect all database audit information in a single database repository for managing database security."
"The out-of-the-box reports feature is most valuable because it covers most of the useful auditing features that you might need."
"It has provided us with a unique opportunity to automate risk discovery."
"Oracle Audit Vault was used extensively and our clients are quite comfortable with it."
"Protection, audit, and security of the database are valuable features."
"It is a good product for controlling all databases. It is helpful for auditing the data. When people are doing any actions on the databases, they are recorded automatically in the vault. You can work on the collected data to find out exactly what is happening on a database. You can implement database encryption on the databases to control people's access to the database content, such as rows and tables."
"Our client was scheduled to take a year and a half to set up compliance, but by deploying this product they were able to do the compliance reports within three months."
"For clients the superior security, power, customizability and reasonable ease of use return in time savings and secure data."

Cons

"Usability and installation procedure could be made easier."
"Customized reporting is something that we are struggling with, and it is quite tough for us."
"In the previous version, when the aud$ and fga_log$ tables reached a certain size, the collectors sometimes shut down and it took too long to get reports from the AV console, so it was not working in a stable manner."
"The technical support at Oracle is weak, but the documentation provided is detailed and good."
"If you use the DB AUD$ option, you have to be careful because this table might fill up your database without any notifications."
"The product monitors only the database and not the operating systems."
"We constantly have stability issues."
"All departments of this product need to be improved."
"For technical support, I find it only sustainable. I am not satisfied with the technical support provided."
