Helps secure the infrastructure and control users with admin rights
There are many features that are currently missing. A customization option is required for certain policies. For instance, if we need to stop PowerShell scripting, we have to create a different policy for that. Being able to create a sub-level policy within a top-level policy would be good. Currently, no user-based policy option is available inside the EPM console. We can only create computer-based policies. The database is available, but there is a drawback in not being able to create local groups on the EPM console. We only have to depend on Active Directory. This limits infrastructure security as we depend on the Active Directory team to manage user groups. If they remove any users, we lose control. If we could create groups locally and block them or set specific policies, we would have more control. Local endpoint management is missing from the EPM site. Moreover, there is an issue with policies not running as expected when we make enhancements. We have to find multiple ways to whitelist applications or enhance policies.

Has struggled with poor documentation and limited tuning options but supports basic protection needs
The major limitation of this product is that their documentation is very poor; their documentation is extremely poor. Their support is very poor for this product, and the solution is average. To be honest, it's not that effective. Their Threat Scan Engine has features that don't work properly; they have features that really don't work properly. Their solution provides writing style verification, but this solution comes with false positives 60% of the time. There is no way from their portal to fix it; you can either turn it off or turn it on. The solution has many bugs. I will recommend Microsoft first for replacing Trend Micro ScanMail, then Barracuda, but the problem with Barracuda is that for impersonation solutions, it doesn't work well. There are many features, but you cannot tune the product. Being able to tune a product is really important; such as adjusting settings to be aggressive, minimal, or to exclude certain things. These are the most important considerations when purchasing a product. When impersonation is needed, but there are false positives, there should be an option to tune the product. Barracuda and Trend Micro Deep Security lack this feature, which is pathetic.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Regarding the granularity of the managed controls in CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager, we have different levels of features to define compensations and capabilities, which help us verify configurations and access, ultimately keeping the safety of rights intact."
"The solution is pretty mature and can accommodate our use cases quite well."
"The product is very flexible"
"The most valuable feature of CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager is its ability to reset passwords every time that it is needed or periodically."
"The solution's technical support is good."
"What sets CyberArk apart is its continuous innovation, staying ahead of the competition."
"The most valuable feature is that their database is completely encrypted and protected with multiple layers."
"The most valuable feature is that it does lifecycle management and that it will change to whatever the end target is."
"The pricing of Trend Micro ScanMail is average, which is fine."
"The analysis part is good."
"Trend Micro ScanMail is scalable at different levels."
"The most effective feature of ScanMail is its real-time antivirus behaviors, particularly when it scans URLs."
"I find Trend Micro ScanMail to be a stable solution, and I would rate its stability as nine out of ten."
"Its integration with mail platforms is valuable."
"I like that Trend Micro ScanMail is very effective and quite strong."
"It does the job. Even when our clients have a very high rate of emails per second, there has been no problem."

Cons

"My recommendation for improvement is to add functionality for when users request access to an application. There's a pop-up UI, but it's not very customizable. I suggest creating a UI where we can write scripts or use SDKs to enhance it. This could automatically create tickets in a system like ServiceNow when users request an application. If a manager approves, we could automatically push policies to those users."
"CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager could be improved by simplifying the administration process, specifically when setting up policies and applications."
"I'm not satisfied with the EPM, and I'm just looking to see if there's any other solution that we can get."
"The tool should be more user-friendly."
"What I would really like to see improved is the AIM (Application Identity Manager). I think that it could be simpler to use, and much more straight forward."
"The price of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required. The product's price should be made more flexible."
"The CyberArk team is working on a feature to identify devices without the Endpoint Privilege Manager running, which is currently missing."
"The main issues I experience are related to deployment, which requires dependency on other solutions like AD or SCCM. These tools need to be defined and synced with the client or agent and master, sometimes needing manual checks."
"The price could be better. I think it's pretty good compared to other solutions as far as the features are concerned. It basically covers most of the stuff which we require for email security. But it would be better if they made it a little cheaper and more cost-effective. That would make it easier for us to sell it."
"The weaknesses of Trend Micro ScanMail are that it doesn't fully protect ad-based web access and lacks proper security for Outlook, iOS, and web browser access."
"I believe there is room for improvement in better signatures, better reporting features, and more insight into the spam emails database."
"ScanMail needs improvement in its reporting, as it is currently weak in some areas."
"Its user interface is pretty old-fashioned, and sometimes, it's hard to find the features that you are looking for. The user interface definitely needs some improvement."
"The price could be better. But it would be better if they made it a little cheaper and more cost-effective."
"The sandboxing part can be improved."
"Even Trend Micro ScanMail support staff are not familiar with this product."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool is priced high. I would rate its pricing an eight out of ten."
"The tool's pricing is reasonable for customers."
"I feel that the price of the product is nominal. It must be around 10 to 15 USD per installation. I rate the product price an eight to nine out of ten, where one is high price, and ten is low price."
"I believe it's quite a reasonably priced solution. It's not very common to use CyberArk because it's a niche solution, but customers who are willing to control administrative accounts are willing to pay this money."
"CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager has a very high price, so it's a one out of ten for me in terms of pricing."
"The cost for CyberArk is very high."
"Although I do not deal directly with the pricing, CyberArk Endpoint Privilege Manager is costly compared to other solutions. However, it offers beneficial features."
"The solution requires an annual license to use it. There can be some extra costs in some cases."
"Its price is okay. It is not too high."
"It is an expensive solution. I rate the pricing a seven out of ten."
"It's a yearly subscription, but the price could be better."
