Has supported complex data pipeline creation but performance tuning and monitoring responsiveness need improvement
Sometimes, I see various performance issues with Informatica PowerCenter, including caching concerns, whether it's a joiner transformation or other transformations, so I believe the team can enhance the performance perspectives of these transformations. Additionally, sometimes the Informatica Monitor hangs or takes time to open the current run or logs, which the team can also look into. Informatica is transitioning to cloud solutions and discontinuing on-premise support after 2026, so when we discuss Informatica Cloud and its support, it becomes quite expensive for the organization compared to peers such as SnapLogic or Netezza, which offer lower pricing. Informatica Cloud Intelligence's pricing is notably high.

Has improved data integration speeds and strengthened security through secure authentication
In my experience, the best features Python Connectors offers are easy database connectivity, support for secure authentication, and encryption options. We have used encrypted connections and secure authentication methods, so no plain text credentials have helped us, and we found it effective. We found that Python Connectors is compliance-friendly, very secure, and has no plain text passwords or anything.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"If the systems get migrated or upgraded, the amount of resources required are very minimal. We can change the connections and establish a new connection. It's very helpful."
"The most valuable features are the monitoring tools and the reporting manager."
"Has a good visual tool for data mapping."
"In summary, this is a good product, and other than integrating with other tools, I don't face any challenges."
"When compared with other ETL or ELP tools, Informatica PowerCenter is the best for connecting to multiple sources, which is better when you have large loads."
"Informatica PowerCenter provides multiple transformations in one particular toolset. You don't need to apply any coding."
"With Informatica PowerCenter, we were able to overcome all the performance bottlenecks and we were able to standardize the ETL layer."
"Since we started to use Python Connectors, we found it very reliable, and there are many measurable benefits of this."

Cons

"While Informatica is great for data-integration, it does not have any analytics features. Thus, organizations have to always look for another product for their BI needs."
"I would like to see it be able to import data from NoSQL."
"Informatica PowerCenter could improve the data threshold for large sets of data. Additionally, they should add real-time integration."
"There is some room for improvement in terms of pricing."
"Now they are migrating to a new version, and they have something that is called Informatica Developer. Previously, they just had PowerCenter. Now, when they move everything to Informatica Developer it's not as good or stable like it was when it was PowerCenter, though it has some nice features."
"Informatica are very rigid when it comes to cloud migrations which discourages customers in moving their solution to the cloud."
"The pricing of Informatica PowerCenter is somewhat high compared to other tools that provide almost the same features, and there are some advanced tools in the market right now."
"I would like to see an improvement in the digital adoption. It would be nice if they could be cheaper, because the training is very expensive as they do everything online."
"Python Connectors might get a little less costly, making it a common tool rather than being an expensive or fancy tool."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its maintenance is expensive."
"Licensing costs are excessive and pose an obstacle to someone who lacks familiarity with the solution and wishes to have a proper understanding of it."
"Price-wise, it's more expensive than SSIS, but it's a better tool, so it has more features. Licensing is on a yearly basis."
"The price is mostly reasonable."
"Since the solution's cost is higher, I rate the pricing as a five out of ten."
"The price of this solution is high."
"Its licensing is expensive in terms of scaling."
"I rate the product's price a ten on a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price."
