Nasuni and Infrascale are prominent competitors in the backup and disaster recovery sector. Based on the comparison, Nasuni has the upper hand due to its robust features and flexibility in deployment, despite certain areas requiring improvement.
Features:Nasuni is known for its global file locking, unlimited storage capacity, and comprehensive auditing tools, essential for efficient file space management and disaster recovery. On the other hand, Infrascale offers excellent disaster recovery and backup features, including quick recovery times and strong data protection, ensuring business continuity.
Room for Improvement:Nasuni could improve in areas such as replication speeds, overall user-friendliness, and support for platforms like OneDrive. Additionally, easier file copying options and better visibility into filer health are needed. Infrascale can enhance bandwidth limitations, provide better Linux support, and centralize backup solutions for increased efficiency.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service:Nasuni provides varied deployment options, including hybrid, private, and public clouds, giving flexibility across infrastructures, although support can sometimes be delayed. Infrascale excels with hybrid and private cloud deployments, praised for its responsive customer service and user-friendly deployment tools.
Pricing and ROI:Nasuni offers competitive tiered subscription pricing with flexibility in cloud provider options but requires consideration of additional cloud storage costs. Infrascale's straightforward pricing with competitive rates covers all necessary costs, avoiding extra fees. Both deliver clear ROI, primarily through time savings and reduced infrastructure expenses.
The most valuable aspects of Infrascale’s support for my company are the turnaround time and the resolution time.
Their average mean time to resolve open tickets is an hour.
For P1 incidents, they resolve issues within four hours.
One person can manage hundreds and hundreds of endpoints without any issues.
I rated the scalability as seven because even though the solution can scale, load balancing must be done manually, as it's not automated.
I would rate the stability a ten out of ten.
There was a recent announcement in terms of moving Infrascale to the cloud, which makes it easier for the customer in terms of usability.
Many customers do not rely on just one cloud provider and want to work with multiple clouds.
When the product works, there is really nothing to fix, but they can allow different types of backups, such as differential or incremental backups.
I suggest Nasuni improve their syslog forwarders to support TCP protocol, as it's more secure than UDP, which is plain text and not protected at all.
To someone considering Infrascale but is concerned about the price, I would say that they should get Infrascale's service no matter what it costs because any downtime or any loss of data is substantially worse than any cost for backup.
We recently renewed one of our agreements with them, and even though we were going to renew anyway, they added more margin in terms of a discount for us for renewing early.
The per-terabyte pricing is very competitive compared to the others.
I prefer solutions with lower pricing.
What I like the most about it is that backups and restores are simple, straightforward, and clean.
Performing backup and recovery can be done very intuitively with the solution and the interface that is part of the solution.
The features I find most valuable in Nasuni are the unlimited snapshots, antivirus capabilities, auditing, and ransomware protection.
