Has struggled to detect major threats but has offered basic protection over time
Intercept X Endpoint could learn from CrowdStrike in terms of overall performance and filtering because performance is most important, especially these days as Windows is getting buggier and buggier, which puts a huge load on the PC, and even with the most advanced CPUs and everything in place, it still lags in performance in so many places, thanks to Windows' clumsy design of these collaboration suites that make it extremely heavy on PC's resources. The interface of Intercept X Endpoint is quite old-fashioned. The Sophos interfaces, including for Intercept X Endpoint, are quite bad actually; to be very honest, even in UTM boxes, they are not great at all. You can hardly see a very small portion of windows while it's creating the firewall rules, and we have been complaining about this for quite some time, but there hasn't been any improvement on those grounds. Intercept X Endpoint's anti-ransomware capabilities failed us during a bad attack, and just because of our own backup policies, we could restore our normal operations; otherwise, if we had to depend on this solution, we would have been long dead because the infection was so bad, it couldn't even detect the infection. Intercept X Endpoint cannot handle zero-day attacks; in my experience, last year, we had this major issue with a malware attack, and it happened just because of our backup policies that we were able to recover without any support from Sophos, which just told us they would charge us some 1 Crore in rupees. Intercept X Endpoint should improve their implementation; things will never be perfect for the new world. This new world is always facing new kinds of attacks and new ways to compromise the system. They need to learn fast, implement fast, and sometimes redesigning the solution is the solution—not just patchwork. There was a time we used to love Sophos because of its fresh design and innovative thought. In my experience, when technical companies are led by MBA professionals, they lose their shine on the technical part and become more dependent on target sales; it turns into a marketing-centric operation that loses the technical focus completely.

Customers have found quick incident response and proactive security management through effective threat detection
Secureworks Taegis Managed XDR MDR is a great product that has not posed any challenges from my perspective. I am extremely happy with the quick response from the Secureworks team. After the Sophos merger, I look forward to seeing a better and more enhanced version of the product. The team does a phenomenal job with automatic maintenance.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Malware protection and application blocking are absolutely great. The DLP and malware features are very helpful. It is also very user-friendly, reliable, and scalable. It is easy to set up. We are also happy with its price and support."
"The most valuable feature is the supervisory side of it where we can watch the throughputs, and even the loading of the device, to see how much traffic is happening."
"The threat analysis center is nice."
"Since it's cloud-managed, the solution is easy to administer, especially if the person using it is in a different geophysical location."
"Sophos Intercept X has a lot of excellent features."
"Everything in Intercept X Endpoints is much centralised which makes it easy for our team to work with. The functions are in a single portal."
"The most valuable feature is the anti-ransomware capability. It's been helpful because we have been seeing a lot of information around what the ransomware hit."
"Technical support is responsive and adept."
"The pricing is flexible."
"The initial setup was very straight forward."
"The solution is great for managing alerts and dealing with them as they arise."
"We can easily isolate affected machines in the network."
"The most valuable features are IDS and IPS."
"This solution gathers the information logs from all devices and correlates all the information. It notifies us of any critical events taking place across our networks which has been valuable."
"It provides more visibility and more control over endpoints. It reduces the noise. It clears things and only shows things that are really important. It only shows those things that need to be looked at or need to be investigated further. Other similar solutions give you a lot of alerts and other things, but Secureworks gives you a defined or less noisy view so that you can work or focus on things that are important in terms of investigation, response, and remediation."
"We don't have a full SOC, so it's helpful to have them sifting through our alerts and only bringing actionable items to us."

Cons

"Integration with firewall solutions could be better."
"To be a perfect product, the price would have to be a bit better."
"For the stability of the solution, I had some problems with uptime."
"The solution is expensive, and it could be made cheaper."
"The choices offered for the on-premises and cloud-based platforms are the reverse of each other."
"To be a perfect product, the price would have to be a bit better."
"Sophos needs to create a YouTube channel with educational material for technicians or engineers."
"There is some issue with the reporting and refreshing information on resources that have been eliminated."
"We did a PoC of their next-gen antivirus product, but it wasn't ready yet. It was underdeveloped and caused a lot of issues. We'd like to move away from Carbon Black, but they said that it's probably still not to a point where we'd be happy with it. Carbon Black and RedCloak seem to work fine for us."
"It would be nice if the solution were a little more affordable."
"I would rate the scalability at 50%. We have been having a problem as we are shifting from a previous appliance to a virtual machine."
"Dell Secureworks is for higher-end customers and it's not quite as straightforward to implement or to get up and running as some of the other solutions."
"Secureworks Taegis ManagedXDR's query language and stability need improvement."
"Dell Secureworks is for higher-end customers and it's not quite as straightforward to implement or to get up and running as some of the other solutions."
"In terms of ROI, I'd be surprised if there is any investment return on the SIM."
"In the next release of this solution, I would like to see file integrity monitoring."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"When you start going to the EDR technologies and the MTR, it is a little bit expensive. It's a very good technology, and obviously, you're going to pay for it, but the pricing could do a little bit of work."
"Its price is reasonable."
"As I am not responsible for paying the bills I cannot comment on the pricing."
"It's not bad, but compared to competitors, it's a little bit on the high side. The price could be more competitive."
"You can pay monthly, but most of our customers choose annual subscriptions because they are less expensive."
"We are happy with the pricing across all Sophos products."
"On a per-user basis, my company has to pay a certain amount of money."
"We renew the license for one year at $10,000."
"Secureworks Taegis ManagedXDR is very expensive and could be more cost-effective."
"The pricing of Dell Secureworks is very reasonable."
"Initially, the cost was going to be something around $160 or $170. And eventually, I think they brought it down to $110 and they also threw in some endpoint protection platforms."
"The price is kind of on par. The licensing was comparable to other solutions. It's not particularly high or low."
"The pricing for this solution is reasonable. One agent costs approximately 270 dirhams/70 USD for one year. There is a reduction in cost per licence as the number of licences used increases."
"The Red Cloak agent is free."
"It is expensive but there is no better product than this."
