Good policies related to data
I primarily use it for various policies related to data, such as data retention, data deletion, and archiving policies. All policies can be set using this system The most valuable feature for me is the policy management capabilities. I would like to see more integration with different platforms,…

Ease of deployment and excellent support ensures seamless data security
I am working with Veritas Backup Exec, and that is the one I use. The value of using Veritas Backup Exec across physical and virtual environments is significant. I had a chance to use Veritas Backup Exec on physical and virtual environments, but not on the cloud. The benefits from the platform support of Veritas Backup Exec are that it works very nicely for physical and virtual environments. Veritas Backup Exec is affordable for my customers. My customers use the solution on-premises and in virtualization. Securing the data for customers is obviously a significant benefit of Veritas Backup Exec. I highly recommend using Veritas Backup Exec for backup as it is very easy to use, easy to deploy, and the support is also very nice. On a scale of 1-10, I rate Veritas Backup Exec a 9.5.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The flexible ways you can get to the data and the options that it gives you for backing up your valuable data are what make its offsite storage so valuable."
"The most valuable feature for me is the policy management capabilities"
"The most valuable features of Veritas Backup Exec are the graphical interface, ease of management, and overall ease of use."
"The product's most valuable feature is scalability."
"The most valuable feature of Veritas Backup Exec is the ease of use."
"This solution is not complex and you do not have to be too technical to use it."
"This is a very flexible product, which allows you to back up not only the physical environment but also the cloud environment."
"It makes our backup process so stable and robust."
"The solution was stable and reliable."
"Veritas is simple and easy to deploy. In terms of the presentation and UI, they do their job well."

Cons

"I would like to see more integration with different platforms."
"Basically, the only thing I do not like about it, it was keyed off Lotus Notes."
"The solution is too heavy and complex with 1,000 menus and options that make it messy rather than lightweight."
"It is currently missing the dynamic backup feature for virtual machines, which is available in NetWorker. I can create politics in NetWorker to add virtual machines with specific tags, but I cannot do this in Backup Exec, which is a minus point for me. Currently, a user has to send a request to the Backup administrator to add a machine to the backup, but I should be able to create rules to automatically add a new machine to the backup. This kind of functionality is very important in current times, especially when we are using cloud solutions. I should be able to create more than one stream in a policy and specify how many streams I want to run in parallel in one policy. Currently, I have to manually create more policies to backup more than one virtual machine at the same time. Their support can also be improved in terms of response time."
"Doesn't include disaster recovery."
"They could include backup functionality for enterprise environments."
"The console of Veritas Backup Exec is complex when compared to other software."
"It is not a recommended software when it comes to large environments where there has to be a minimal Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and/or Recover Point Objective (RPO)."
"The cost is quite high. Along with the general costs, the supposed agents that you have to buy for the various options that you want to use ends up driving the costs higher as well."
"I have experienced some errors, such as failures, but there have not been very many."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"It is not an expensive product."
"The price of Veritas Backup Exec could be reduced and we pay annually for the license. However, compared to other solutions, such as Veeam, it is less expensive."
"The solution could be more cost-effective."
"Its price is reasonable."
"Regarding expense, Backup Exec is generally suitable for small and medium businesses. However, we can customize them based on the workload."
"Veritas licensing is somewhat expensive. They have to decrease the price."
"Licensing depends on the part of the backup you're using. If you have SQL backup, then you must have a SQL license. If you have normal data backup, you would require a license for that."
"It is a mid-range solution on the pricing scale."
