Enables efficient finance and maintenance management with real-time data and strong integration
The integration between plant maintenance, stores, and financials is highly valued by my customers in the refinery business, as it allows for efficient maintenance processes and easily accessible financial information. Additionally, the mobile features are beneficial as they allow managers to approve or reject orders on the go. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ( /products/jd-edwards-enterpriseone-reviews ) provides real-time data, which is very timely for decision-making. Managers have dashboards created for them that are readily updated for insightful information. This reflects the improved business intelligence features of the solution.

A stable product that offers excellent ROI and reliable technical support
It is a good solution but quite complex, especially when integrating with other systems. Some simpler products like Sage are much easier to integrate with. I think it is because of the product’s proprietary database, MSSQL. Other databases are more open source. They use MySQL in the background, so it is easier to integrate with other products. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"JD Edwards EnterpriseOne's most valuable feature is its one consolidated platform that runs all the different aspects of companies."
"JD Edwards EnterpriseOne has improved within all the solutions and there have been a lot of investments by Oracle in these solutions. Most of the functionalities, and business requirements, are available for the system in the solution and there have been enhancements to the processes, UI, and tools, which have been done on a regular basis."
"It’s a stable product."
"JD Edwards is highly scalable and suitable for both small teams and large enterprises with hundreds of users."
"Access and visibility of different business processes on a single UI."
"It has simplified the process completely, and even though it has many features which are available in the market now, but it is on par with the other ERPs that are available in the market now."
"Traceability is the most valuable feature of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne...The stability of the solution is excellent."
"It is highly configurable. You have a choice in terms of how you want to run it. You can run it in your own data center, in a private cloud, or in a public cloud. The choice is really up to the customer."
"The product's most valuable features are its day-to-day operations, Power BI-driven workspaces, and homepage."
"The installation is extremely simple, and I have had no problems with it."
"The product is easier to use and has more efficient workflow management features than other vendors."
"If anyone is familiar with Microsoft products then they can handle it easily."
"Dynamics AX provides a lot of functionality."
"I am impressed with the tool's vendor collaboration. It is also easy to connect with third-party applications."
"Supply Chain Management is an excellent feature."
"One of the valuable features of the solution is how easy it is to use."

Cons

"Financial side could be expanded by bringing in things like the IMS."
"The Fixed Asset module is not desirable because it is complicated."
"They have the interface with Hubble and other reporting, however, we just want that to be a part of JD Edwards."
"The implementation procedure could be simplified."
"What would make JD Edwards EnterpriseOne better is more straightforward project implementation, including reducing the costs associated with upgrading projects."
"Localization features are critical for all regions. Improving these features in various countries and markets is essential to meet customer needs."
"We found that the system was unable to address many of our concerns, especially when it comes to project management."
"They have been improving it every day, but it could have more automation."
"The product is standardised across industries so it is not a good fit for all types of sectors."
"Microsoft Dynamics AX has several areas that need improvement, particularly when compared to larger systems. It lacks the concept of month-end closing, which is essential for tight control over financial periods."
"If I had to add something in the next release, it would probably be a mobile application for a sister application of Dynamics 365; not the ERP but the Dynamics 365 HR solution. It would definitely help if we could have Microsoft or a Microsoft partner introduce a mobile application for it."
"From a consultant's point of view, I recommend an enhancement in terms of detailed documentation for the products on the website."
"They should include some modules related to solving customer problems or resolving support tickets from our customers — like a help desk for ERPs."
"There should be the capability for users to enhance the application by using a low-code or no-code product from the Microsoft family."
"It is being decommissioned."
"The product takes some training to get up to speed on all functionality and modules in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 ERP system."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is very high. Even though the license is perpetual yet you have to get the maintenance. Since we pay using Pesos, it's very expensive."
"Upgrading projects can make JD Edwards EnterpriseOne costlier, so it needs cost reduction in this area."
"The licensing is for mid-market businesses, where it is cheaper than Oracle Cloud, EBS, or SAP."
"It depends on the number of users and the modules that you want to buy. It is licensed on a perpetual license basis. You buy the license costs upfront, and then there is maintenance for support that you pay every year, which is typically about 20%."
"More transparent pricing of the software is needed."
"There is an annual license for this solution."
"The price of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is high. However, every ERP solution has a high price."
"The solution’s pricing depends on the module you’re purchasing."
"The solution is on-premises and we do not pay for a license."
"It is not the cheapest solution, but it is also not the most expensive one. It's in between and is cheaper than SAP but more expensive than other local vendors. It is worth the cost."
"The product's license is expensive. My company is located in a region where we have to pay the most for the tool due to our currency and inflation scenario."
"The solution is expensive."
"Comparatively, Business Central appears to be more cost-effective. Microsoft offers Business Central at only $70 per user per month in the US. In contrast, GP requires an initial investment, including around $9,000 for the GP license for three users and additional expenses for hardware. Therefore, the initial investment for GP is quite substantial. On the other hand, cloud-based ERP products like Business Central do not entail the same upfront investment and operate on an ongoing, subscription-based model."
"One license costs $1,000."
"The product's license renewal cost could be better."
"It is $180 to $200 per user per month with a minimum of 20 users, which makes selling the product a bit difficult."

Hard to help without knowing more about your specific environment, but I would concur with Kevin - if you and your users are a Microsoft shop then Dynamics will probably win out on user acceptance in this comparison. This is a recurring theme in multiple case studies we have written. You may wish to consult this white paper: http://istart.com.au/research-articles/an-expert-guide-to-selecting-an...

I can only really speak about Dynamics Ax as I have little knowledge of the Jd Edwards package. From a users point of review we have had good feedback about most of the functionality. A few issues with low resolution machines and windows sizing but anyone that uses ms office should be able to pick up Dynamics relatively easy. The most difficult part is the data setup for financial and items. I will not say Dynamics is perfect as it will require some development work in areas that should be out of the box. However, as long as you are careful with what is changed then the product should meet most requirements. Just try to look at Business process change before changing core functionality. I have seen disasters where businesses try to amend the system to fit practices that are not within the Dynamics processes. Hope this assists Kind regards Tony Bowyer
