Powerful BI tool for analyzing financial performance and stable performance
I would rate the scalability of Jedox a seven out of ten. There is room for improvement in the scalability. It is a very massive tool. It's not easy to just build everything yourself. So that's where the main improvements lie—making it easy for people to not depend on just technical finance teams. There are almost 50 to 60 users using Jedox in our organization.

Microsoft Power BI has many features and there is not a lot to improve. However, the licensing can be confusing. When deciding between Pro and Premium, I find it difficult to distinguish what features are offered by Pro and what features are offered by Premium, including the particular differences to choose between both licensing models. Additionally, some features such as DAX, which I mentioned previously, involve DAX calculations and complex data modeling, which are somewhat advanced and not easily understandable. Prior knowledge is required or you need to go through the documentation. If the documentation is made comprehensive so that anyone with no knowledge on DAX can easily use it by going through the documentation, it would be really helpful. Additionally, if the integration with non-Microsoft tools is improved and performance is optimized, then Microsoft Power BI can become a top-ranked visualization tool. The user experience with Microsoft Power BI is quite good. The intuitive user interface makes it easy for both technical and non-technical users to create reports. However, only the advanced features are somewhat complex, and if the documentation is improved, it can be easily accessible.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The main strength of Jedox lies in mastering the navigation, especially the Excel add-in."
"The data entry point is most valuable, and the way we can customize our report or do data entry is very good."
"The data entry point is most valuable. The way we can customize our report or do data entry is very good."
"The solution is quick with analysis and calculation. The tool offers high digitalization which helps us to run the controlling department with less number of people. If the software wasn't there, I would need two to three people extra to run the department."
"The solution is very versatile."
"The customer porting is the most valuable feature."
"With Jedox, those kinds of pain points have been removed, and now if I create my dashboard once, people just need to add the data or pull the data, or the data just comes in on a scheduled basis from various systems, and my dashboards are ready."
"The ease of reporting is one of Jedox's most valuable features."
"We have found the product to be scalable."
"We have plans to use the AI mechanisms and algorithms that Power BI uses to publish more easy-to-understand reports for our customers."
"Provides good data flow related to the container and control flow."
"One valuable feature of Microsoft Power BI is that it's user-friendly."
"Implementation is very quick and the solution is very user-friendly."
"The user interface is easy to work with."
"ou can pull reports, visualize them in real-time, and connect them to a variety of other data sources."
"Microsoft BI is very easy to set up and use."

Cons

"From a development perspective, there's room for improvement in the area called the designer, where you actually build your reports to make it easier to manage the process."
"I don't find it particularly user-friendly."
"There is not much training for Jedox."
"It is also not that easy as an implementation piece. It takes time to convert the business requirement into the proper solutions in the tool, which is time-consuming."
"Online pixel-perfect reporting is an aspect that has room for improvement."
"The solution needs to improve its support. The visualization in Microsoft BI is more modern and comfortable than Jedox's. I would expect something similar with the solution."
"Visualization is something they need to improve. There should be some dropdown facilities in it like Excel."
"Visualization is something they need to improve. We have already told them about this, and they should be working on it."
"The integration with third-party products could be more stable."
"There are some connector-related issues in their MSBA solution."
"The product doesn't support unstructured data. It doesn't support video, streaming, and strings of files."
"This solution's performance when handling big data could be improved. Right now, if you're handling big data, the application becomes slow and the performance is very low."
"Microsoft has made a lot of progress with Power BI in the past couple of years, but there is still some room for improvement. For example, Integration is one area they could work on. They are adding more integration with other Microsoft tools, but I would like it if they sped up the process."
"The build in Report Builder for end users needs improvement."
"The capacity of the solution could be improved. If you don't need all the data it offers then don't download it because the software slows down."
"I would like to see integration with Excel."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We paid a one-time fee, which included product purchase, licensing, and first-time implementation. We are paying for the maintenance regularly."
"If you are using SAP, then you will have to take an SAP Connector license. The license across the tool is paying for the people who are using it as an admin or as a normal user. They can work out those costs in a manner that can help. This can also be a point of improvement where they can work out the costing, and the developers have a specific licensing cost. The normal users, who are going to do probably data entry or just going to view the dashboard, can have a separate license cost."
"Jedox was a bit cheaper compared to Calumo."
"The product’s pricing will not be suitable for setting up a small solution."
"Excellent value for money."
"The solution's pricing is specific to your requirements."
"I rate the product price an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."
"The premium licensing is approximately $5,000 per month which is pretty expensive."
"Microsoft BI is free for the personal edition, but there is also a paid-for professional version."
"The only other cost, besides the licensing fee, would be to cover support."
"It is free."
"It is a cheap solution for our needs."
"All of the licenses are on an annual basis, but Microsoft will amortize it to an extent. If it's five years, they'll include the possible interest they might have the following year. Ideally, their licensing scheme is an annual license, but they make it easier for some of our clients to take a five-year license but package everything inside for them to buy the license for five years."
