Secure branch connectivity and automation have improved, but clustering and support still need work
I think Juniper SRX Series Firewall could be improved or enhanced because maybe a year or two ago, Juniper began producing new boxes such as SRX 1600, SRX 2300, and SRX 4300 and 4700, which are excellent products. They are only one unit high but have very good performance and a lot of different ports, supporting from 1 gig to 100 gig ports. Juniper also has series SRX 300, but it is an old firewall and not very powerful. I believe that maybe in a year, they will transition to another series, such as SRX 400. However, the functionality of Juniper SRX Series Firewall remains the same. The differences involve performance, quality, number of ports, and types of ports in different models of Juniper SRX Series Firewall.

Enhanced threat detection with integrated security features and good support
We are using application firewalling, WAF, and SD-WAN. The capabilities are mostly within the box. For example, you will get web application firewall WAF as part and parcel of this. SD-WAN is also bundled. It integrates with their SIEM and SOAR solutions very nicely. Lastly, the pricing point is very cost-efficient as well.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The scalability is fine."
"The product provides good performance and has features comparable to other leading products in the market."
"At the moment the solution satisfies our needs; there are no extra features that we need at the moment and everything seems good and works fine."
"Using a Juniper CLI, you configure a "candidate configuration", then "commit" it to bring it live. If you do not like it or messed up something, you just "rollback" to the previous configuration. It can all be done in a matter of minutes. This is super handy once you get use to it."
"It's fine, and it's good. It's very stable."
"It has a very usable CLI."
"The technical support is good, and the engineers help support our customers day-to-day."
"The technical support is quite good."
"I think the tool has the feature to detect and kill ransomware in three seconds."
"Sangfor serves most of the basic purposes of a firewall, is particularly good in the DPI where we can inspect the inbound and outbound traffic on a very granular level, gives a very good predictive measure as well as the current measure of things going on in our network, and gives us value for money overall."
"The built-in features function as intended, providing exceptional value."
"Sangfor has the best capabilities for securing connections, securing web browsers, securing servers, and general threat protection."
"The product is very fast and reliable."
"The level of support provided to local companies is good. They transform their application control and other settings according to that country."
"In our hospital, Sangfor NGAF works well for us in terms of ensuring confidentiality and availability, which are crucial in the healthcare industry."
"The capabilities are mostly within the box."

Cons

"Juniper is behind in terms of video training that they have available."
"Juniper needs to focus more on their perimeter firewalls."
"The interface could be more user-friendly."
"The pricing strategy of the vendor could improve."
"It would be good if Junos had "unique commands" between all hierarchical levels, discarding the use of the "Run" command."
"There are a lot of features that customers do not know about and I think that better documentation would help when it comes to learning how to use the product."
"There were limited security zones with each model."
"I do not recommend this product and instead, would recommend using FortiGate."
"The cost of licensing is very high compared to other firewalls available here. There should be improvements in hardware scalability, allowing for more storage and memory capacity."
"It would be ideal if the solution offered SD-WAN capabilities."
"The tool is expensive."
"It has an issue with the Sangfor Cloud Platform rather than the firewall. When we run a virtual machine, the window tabs display Chinese characters."
"The user interface isn't user-friendly though."
"Lacks consistency in terms of filtering certain websites and applications."
"The tool's support is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"Scalability for any network device is not very easy in terms of vertical scalability."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the solution's pricing as a four."
"There was no additional licensing cost because there were no IPS services. It was just a firewall IP circuit router so they have the default licensing. We just need to renew the support yearly."
"When we are in the deployment phase, we contact Juniper and they provide a budget-free code for our budgetary work."
"There is value for money. It offers a good solution at a good price. The price is normal for such a product."
"In terms of pricing, Juniper is in the middle. The most expensive firewall is Palo Alto. If a customer wants the cheapest price they should go for FortiGate. Juniper is in between these products."
"Small enterprises or telco have variant licenses, and this licensing should be improved."
"The product itself is costly and the price of migration is very high."
"The pricing is very inexpensive which is the main reason I bought the solution. One device costs around 50 EUR through the University's vendor who is modernizing our network."
"Sangfor is cheaper than competing vendors."
"In my opinion, the price of the tool is good in the Pakistani market. We can easily get discounts if needed."
"Sangfor NGAF price is reasonable and there is an annual license. However, the maintenance cost can be a bit high."
"I rate the product price as one on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."
"We purchased one year technical support and return to factory support, and we also purchased one-year technical support services. So those were additional."
"For four to five physical appliances for a licensed firewall, it costs approximately $4,000."
"The license of Sangfor NGAF can be purchased at different interval lengths, such as annually or three years. They offer a range of packages to choose from, such as combo or hybrid packages. We are using the complete solution package which includes IM, NGF and SSL VPN, and WAF."
"The price is unmatcheable."
