Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Have maintained strong endpoint protection through behavioral analysis and daily monitoring
I previously mentioned that Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business doesn't have built-in DLP, which was a concern. I think they could add it in the future; however, antivirus cannot provide a proper DLP solution, but they can offer a mix of DLP, similar to Trend Micro Apex One, which provides some sort of DLP file management. Nonetheless, we need a proper DLP solution such as Forcepoint or Symantec, whichever suits us. We'll be conducting performance evaluation in the next quarter while working on other projects. More value means a better GUI, user interface, and comprehensive reporting capabilities. In Sophos, we receive a daily system-generated report about what is happening, plus an alert system. The reporting system in Trend Micro is also excellent; I receive an email every day at 10:00 AM with a report for the last 24 hours.

Has supported compliance needs for mid-sized organizations but lacks customization and advanced integration
If we pitch Rapid7 InsightIDR against solutions such as SIEMs from Splunk or LogRhythm, it is not as customizable as a SIEM solution is. This is where it can improve if we keep in front the feature sets of a complete SIEM solution. Most common in the market is QRadar, but it is depleting now. It has been taken over by some other products such as Splunk and LogRhythm. If we compare these things with Rapid7 InsightIDR, then there are definitely some gaps that need to be filled. Data retention is also one concern because Rapid7 InsightIDR is cloud-based and operates on a subscription model. Whatever data you want to retain, it has to be paid for separately or it has a cost. Other solutions that are on-premises can have their own infrastructure or they provide some data retention for a month or in some capacity-wise, they provide that solution to them which makes them more attractive.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We can use Cortex XDR to get the entire graph of the incidents from source to destination, and we can take remedial action."
"The product has an intuitive dashboard."
"Palo Alto Networks Traps improves our security posture and lowers risk by providing next-gen methods to combat against modern threats on all the major platforms."
"It's a nice product that's stable and scalable."
"Traps is quite a stable product. Once it was properly deployed and configured, you have nothing to be worried about."
"The solution allows us to gain remote access without the user's knowledge and take the necessary actions on the device."
"Since they've done their most recent update, the ease to isolate endpoints is valuable. If we find one where there is a virus on it, we can easily isolate it. We don't even have to contact the user. We don't have to manually take them off the network. We can easily isolate them."
"The policy configuration is great, the granularity of policies that are available is very helpful, it is straightforward to set up, and it has pretty much everything we need and works well within the Palo Alto ecosystem."
"The most valuable feature is the management center."
"There is plenty of features that make the solution work very well."
"It integrates well across different operating systems, including mobile devices like Android and Mac. It effectively manages firewalls, particularly with Fortinet, enhancing overall security posture."
"Endpoint Security is efficient and easy to use. It doesn't slow the performance of your personal computer."
"The best features in Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business are the file threat protection, web threat protection, mail threat protection, network threat protection, firewall, behavior detection, and exploit prevention."
"Overall, Kaspersky is a good product."
"That said, I've never gotten a virus on my machine using this product."
"The admin capabilities are great."
"User behavioral analytics allows us to pinpoint abnormal or suspicious behavior among millions of events every day."
"The solution is very stable and works very well for what I need it to do."
"It improves because several sensors are deployed within the on-premise environment. It can be very efficient if the customer implements and operates it effectively."
"Rapid7 InsightIDR is budget-friendly and has a good market position because not everybody can afford to go for LogRhythm or Splunk or QRadar."
"The log aggregation and storage provided by InsightIDR has shown no issues with scalability; aggregating over one hundred millions events daily."
"Rapid7 InsightIDR integrates well with other solutions. It's also easy to configure because Rapid7 InsightIDR has a lot of instructions posted on their website that customers can follow if they need to get the source log."
"Rapid7's reporting is more robust than Tenable's."
"The platform offers unlimited storage and agent-based solutions."

Cons

"The product's pricing could be better."
"It's more focused on network communication. If a customer wants to increase the level of protection and start working with documents, it's impossible to integrate these features into the system. It's more of a communication-oriented system than a content security-oriented system."
"The technical support is not very good. I find the process difficult."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks can improve mobile integration to allow access to the console."
"The GUI could be improved. It's a little bit cumbersome. It could be more user-friendly."
"Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR does not detect malicious activity like in other anti-virus solutions like Trend Micro and Windows with Cisco."
"I don't like that they have different types of licenses. For example, if users select a license, they think they will have all the platforms they need to improve their network or security. But after some time, Palo Alto Networks changed their licensing, and some of the features that, for example, were free at the beginning now have a cost. I think the integration can be improved. For example, a lot of tools are just integrated through APIs."
"The solution should enhance the ADR and reporting."
"The solution could use better reporting."
"More value means a better GUI, user interface, and comprehensive reporting capabilities."
"There are some features built into Kaspersky that do not work at all, so we have to use other products instead."
"The solution is very draining on the computers at certain moments in its operation, excluding the scanning periods that make the computer unusable until finished. It is a balance between economic protection and client machine performance to our users."
"The training provided by the vendor to resellers and end users needs to be improved"
"The performance could be better. We would like to see improved performance and faster deployment in the next release."
"It needs more computer resources. They should have more anti-spam features."
"Web Control and vulnerability need work."
"Rapid7's customer support is awful. They didn't respond at all."
"Lacks a mobile application."
"Tenable Nessus is easier to deal with. It's more efficient and accurate. InsightIDR is heavier than Tenable in terms of performance and scanning. Rapid7 would be much easier to use if it had a network connector like Tenable. Tenable's connector allows continuous monitoring over the B caps."
"I'd like to see a mobile application included and some feature related to the generality of segregation for internal users that access the application."
"Sometimes, it is hard to get the right queries to use. Currently, the tool lacks a pre-made set of queries."
"If we pitch Rapid7 InsightIDR against solutions such as SIEMs from Splunk or LogRhythm, it is not as customizable as a SIEM solution is."
"They should add more configuration and security features to it."
"I'd like to be able to get the compliance report within the solution which is currently not possible."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Cortex XDR's pricing is ok."
"The price is on the higher side, but it's okay."
"I did PoCs on products called Cylance and CrowdStrike. Although, I consider these products and they were also good, when it come to cost and budgetary factors, Traps has been proven to be better than the other two products. It is quite cost-effective and delivers all the entire solution which we require."
"I don't have any issues with the pricing. We are satisfied with the price."
"We didn't have to pay any additional fee for the cloud instance. It just came with the renewal, which was nice."
"It is cost-effective compared to similar solutions. It fits for the small businesses through to the big businesses."
"The return on investment is from the user side because we have seen the performance of it increase the delivery time of the product if we are using too many web-based and on-premise applications. In indirect ways, we saw the return of investment in terms of performance and user satisfaction increase."
"It is "expensive" and flexible."
"The licensing is based per agent. You can get discounts if you have more agents."
"The price is reasonable. We evaluated some other vendors, but Kaspersky charges less and offers more."
"I think the price of this solution is good."
"Kaspersky is priced well."
"For 300 nodes, we pay about 15,000 Malaysian Ringgit ($3,500 USD)."
"It's an affordable security solution."
"I find the solution to be inexpensive compared to other solution like Crowdstrike."
"I don't remember exactly what the licenses cost, but it's not too expensive. It's affordable, especially when you are dealing with on-prem. However, I don't know about the new prices because we are in the process of buying support."
"Rapid7 InsightIDR charges us based on the endpoints we connect to."
"The team is very willing to work with companies. My suggestion is to call the Rapid7 sales department and see how they can help."
"The pricing is good, and it is not very expensive."
"It is on a yearly basis. For our own company, for about 250 users, it was 16,000 euros a year."
"Rapid7 InsightIDR is priced very well and is cost-effective."
"Licensing is by endpoint and amount of retention time (at least ours is). Default retention was one year, but we are able to push the retention further if needed. There's also a provide-your-own-S3 option for longer retention if you don't want to pay for the additional retention years in your Rapid7 agreement."
"I rate Rapid7 InsightIDR's price a four on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"The pricing and licensing are competitive."
