Flexible and granular security options, good filtering, and the pricing model is cost-effective
The vendor does a really poor job of marketing this software because it should be more popular. This is something that I have pointed out to them. It's a super piece of software, but very few people are aware of it. I am an EX-IT director and I've worked in big systems, and I'm amazed this solution isn't more popular. The "native" integration with other products could be improved. The user interface for the systems that you build can use some improvement because as it is now, you may have to use HTML and CSS to make it look more modern or to match a clients existing look. The documentation is amazing, although they don't do videos and their YouTube channel is very poor. They could create some training videos.

User experience metadata and workflow customization have been streamlined
The creator needs improvement; for instance, if I create a widget that has dynamic data, it cannot get published. When we publish a page that contains a widget, dynamic data does not appear. That is the problem with Zoho Creator, so it needs improvement. The portal user aspect is also costly; for example, purchasing 250 portal users can be expensive for clients who require them monthly. It creates a financial burden similar to how customer logins on e-commerce websites such as Flipkart or Amazon are generally free. Thus, Zoho Creator needs to offer free access for all portal users as they are essential for the application's usage. In Zoho Creator, we cannot work on UI customization as expected; if I want an application resembling a Figma design, there are limitations on UI changes.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The security is the most valuable feature, in particular, the way I can give different access to different areas to different people, so you can really fine-tune access for different users."
"Basically, the application development part of the solution is one of the main features I like since it is quick."
"In Zoho Creator, we can create applications from scratch and implement full automation, which is what I find best about it."
"Traditionally, such applications require entire teams of developers, but with Zoho Creator, one single developer can handle everything."
"We can create multiple applications simultaneously with it."
"Zoho Creator provides a quick turnaround in terms of project closures, which is the most important benefit."
"The most valuable feature of Zoho Creator is that we can easily create applications because there is 360-degree flexibility available."
"It is very easy to build applications on the product."
"The features or capabilities of Zoho Creator that I have found the most valuable so far is customization—being able to drag and drop and build whatever app you want, with strong custom code support and the ability to make API calls to different third-party applications."

Cons

"The user interface for the systems that you build can use some improvement because as it is now, you have to do a lot of HTML and CSS to make it look modern."
"Could have more pre-built integrations for pulling data from the wider Zoho ecosystem as well as other systems."
"Zoho provides different channels for support, like chat and email. There's also a multi-brand support self-service support portal, but it's time-consuming to deal with it. If we create a portal on Zoho, we need to pay an additional cost per user. It's a flexible platform, but there are limitations, such as the EBI. We need to purchase additional EBIs and other features that some businesses require. If we are developing complex applications, we need to set up many virtual automation and use API calls."
"I rate their support around a six out of ten, as there is room for improvement in their support capabilities."
"The tech support operates on a ticket-based email response system. Often, by the time they respond, I have already resolved the issue myself."
"They still don't have a PDF conversion feature."
"The biggest area for improvement is the look and feel when building a customer portal as it's not that customizable."
"In-app support is satisfactory, but my major challenge is usually via email because they take long to reply."
"If I create a widget that has dynamic data, it cannot get published. When we publish a page that contains a widget, dynamic data does not appear."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This product has really good value, as it doesn't have a per-user cost, there's a flat fee."
"The Enterprise version costs INR 1500 per month."
"Zoho Creator is the cheapest option in the market right now that can deliver this level of quality."
"The tool's licensing costs are annual. You need to pay more if you need a bigger database."
"Anyone can start using the solution with less than 15 to 30 dollars a month per user. It is worth the money."
"I rate the solution an eight out of ten for pricing since it is really cheap."
"The tool has three plans and one of them costs 50 dollars per month."
"The plan provided is presented on a monthly basis, giving an idea of the cost each month. However, the actual cost is calculated and charged on a yearly or annual basis. The cost is displayed in a detailed manner, breaking down the amount charged annually, and presenting it in a monthly format."
"It is at the bottom end of the price range."
