Enables fast project development with efficient workflow modifications and promising features while offering modularity and reusability
KNIME is simple and allows for fast project development due to its reusability. I appreciate the ability to make improvements or modifications in existing workflows. Although I have not yet used the forecasting and customer profiling features, I find them promising. Another effective feature is the ability to use GET request objects to retrieve data from websites or APIs. This makes iterative steps easy to manage. It is more elastic and modern compared to SAP Data Services, allowing node creation and regrouping components or steps for reuse in different projects.

Automated workflows enhance productivity but could better handle stress tests
I use SAS Analytics in my work to analyze data, such as selecting credits for traditional securitization. Recently, I used SAS Analytics for the project roster from Santander, selecting and evaluating credits, and conducting historical research on the reception of contracts to issue securitization…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's very convenient to write your own algorithms in KNIME. You can write it in Java script or Python transcript."
"We have found KNIME valuable when it comes to its visualization."
"It can handle an unlimited amount of data, which is the advantage of using Knime."
"Key features include: very easy-to-use visual interface; Help functions and clear explanations of the functionalities and the used algorithms; Data Wrangling and data manipulation functionalities are certainly sufficient, as well as the looping possibilities which help you to automate parts of the analysis."
"The ETL which helps me to collect, reformat, and load the data from multiple sources into one destination, a storage database."
"Easy to connect with every database: We use queries from SQL, Redshift, Oracle."
"It provides very fast problem solving and I don't need to do much coding in it. I just drag and drop."
"We are able to automate several functions which were done manually. I can integrate several data sets quickly and easily, to support analytics."
"All of the data analytics features in SAS Analytics are valuable to us since we're using them daily across our entire analytics team."
"I use SAS daily to analyze data, produce reports, and other outputs."
"Modeling ones and figures, such as PROC LIFETEST, PROC LOGISTICS, PROC GPLOT. PROC FREQ and PROC MEANS, are also among the valuable features."
"The technical support is okay."
"I use it to replicate our entire financial system to verify/duplicate calculations."
"The team immediately resolves the issues."
"I like that it is quickly embedding interactive reports and dashboards into a website, Outlook Mail, or even a mobile app."
"SAS Business Intelligence is well-suited for our large corporation. We have demand for scalable and reliable insights into information which is housed in our large systems."

Cons

"It's pretty straightforward to understand. So, if you understand what the pipeline is, you can use the drag-and-drop functionality without much training. Doing the same thing in Python requires so much more training. That's why I use KNIME."
"We do not have much documentation in Portuguese."
"It's difficult to pinpoint one single feature because KNIME has so many. For starters, it's very easy to learn. You can get started with just a one-hour video. The drag-and-drop interface makes it user-friendly. For example, if you want to read an Excel file, drag the "read Excel file" node from the repository, configure it by specifying the file location, and run it. This gives you a table with all your data."
"It's difficult to provide input on the improvement area because it's more of self-learning. However, there are times when I am not able to do certain things. I don't know if it's because the solution doesn't allow me or if it's because of the lack of knowledge."
"I would like it to have data visualitation capabilities. Today I'm still creating my own data visualtions tools to present my reports."
"The ability to handle large amounts of data and performance in processing need to be improved."
"The graphic features of KNIME need improvement"
"KNIME's documentation is not strong."
"The installation could also be easier, and the price could be better."
"The natural language querying and automated preparation of dashboards should be improved."
"This solution should be made more user-friendly."
"Support at universities used to be limited, but I hear this is changing."
"One of the things that can be simplified is self-service analytics, especially for a citizen developer or a citizen data scientist."
"The training for SAS Business Intelligence is often difficult to arrange. It is often cancelled due to not enough people being enrolled."
"The graphing and visualization features could be enhanced, in my opinion. I would especially stress improving the visualization capabilities."
"I would like to see their interface to R added to either Base SAS or SAS Analytics."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"KNIME offers a free version"

"At this time, I am using the free version of Knime."
