A stable open source suite for modern business analytics with a useful replication feature
It would be better if more resources were available to help us learn how to use it. I wanted to use Knowage for a more extended period, but learning materials around the product were not really available and were not really straightforward. I've also seen inconsistencies between versions. For example, under the tools, especially in the cockpit, the way you create reports is now different. You will also find some configurations within a particular state, like a line chart, which differs from version to version. I think consistency is an essential feature in a product, especially for business intelligence products.

Daily invoice analytics has become streamlined and complex data modeling is now simplified
We are not using analytics features and possibly predictive analytics and forecasting features in QlikView, although they are available. QlikView is very flexible, but we are currently using only tabular presentation of data because that is what we need. Presenting a large volume of data in QlikView with graphics can be overwhelming for the majority of people who want to see a lot of information in one picture. It would be beneficial to have AI or ML features in QlikView. However, I think they will decommission QlikView, and AI features are already available in Qlik Sense, so you would need to migrate to that platform.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I am satisfied with the product in general given what the company invested in it, which was just our time."
"SpagoBI makes delivering reports to our clients very easy."
"We can easily do our own customizations."
"It's a great product. It has a lot more features than many other BI tools. You can get the most out of machine learning, the best connectivity to Python, and it cuts across enterprise sections."
"Instead of just relying on emails to disperse our reports, having a central server to do this for us has helped our organization and has pushed us into a better place."
"The concept of engines is quite powerful allowing the user to work with report authoring/provisioning tools of their choice."
"I would use SpagoBI if a company wants to use a free tool that has enough features."
"It's very easy to get the historical reports you need based on the business requirements and this helps our executives for taking decisions."
"The product’s most valuable feature is its ability to view the entire data available for analysis."
"The associative/relationship engine and fast performance are the most valuable features of the product for me."
"Now reports are available in short time in a single source."
"Our business finds this tool very impressive, particularly the drill down to nth level is very good."
"It has dramatically improved development time for BI reports."
"So now we have better control in some areas, like Sales, Logistics and Financials."
"This product has allowed us to create several applications and dashboards for use by management and different business units to conduct self-service analysis, as well as built-in intelligence."
"It has an associative data exploration feature and can handle one hundred million lines of data and provide good performance."

Cons

"We expected the community to be bigger than what it currently is."
"The support is very meager: We had to break our heads to figure out everything"
"Unfortunately, many interesting features do not work when you are using a custom database for storing the metadata."
"Tomcat configuration was tricky in earlier versions."
"There are additional features such as Data Integration, Data Visualization, MobileBI, Cloud BI, Data enrichment and massaging should be implemented in the next release."
"Yes, using Mobile and Desktop Editions, we would sometimes need to restart the service."
"I encountered a lot of issues when I tried to integrate the map in order to realize Intelligent Location Dashboards."
"When it comes to Knowage, it's a bit heavy, it's time-consuming sometimes, it's not very fast, and definitely not as fast as other business intelligence tools in terms of getting graphical reports."
"Reports module should be improved to make it user-friendly and easy to develop reports."
"Another problem is the printing. It is not a solution that comes with QlikView. I believe we had to buy it. It is not integrated. It is not the easiest to manage. It is not as easy as it could be."
"Currently, there is no SaaS licensing model."
"It could be more mobile friendly, as some of its features don’t work properly on mobile devices or do not provide the best user experience to our customers who would like to extend their access to data."
"Still need to spend time designing the Data Warehouse behind this tool to facilitate user self service model."
"It would be nice if QlikView could be plugged in into the company's website or an online portal such as QlikSense is capable of. There are ways around but it takes enormous time to develop."
"There's room for improvement in the area of management's handling of concerns."
"There’s room for improvement with the licensing, as well as memory consumption for certain objects and technical support."
