Centralized patching has unified multi‑OS management and delivers detailed security reporting
Based on my experience, a better function would be to address the problem that the product only scans a machine once a day. It has a central scanning activity that scans every laptop for changes in assets, meaning both hardware and software, as well as installed software for patches. However, this activity works only once per day and does not work on local time. If you are a global organization with the UK office and a colleague in the US, for example, and you set the task at 11:00 AM UK time, that translates to 6:00 AM in the US East Coast. If that colleague's laptop is on, the task completes; otherwise, it fails. This represents a major drawback because the task does not run on the local time of the system. Regarding the ability to create multiple tasks, you cannot create them, which is another significant issue. Only one task exists for these two activities. That one task performs both the hardware and software scanning for any changes and also conducts a patch scan. Both activities occur through the same task, but the problem is that if you have a global user base, this becomes a bottleneck.

Can automate updates and manage software licenses more effectively
Our team uses the SanerNow CyberHygiene Platform for threat detection, focusing on features like vulnerabilities and asset exposure. The asset exposure feature is packaged with software licenses and machines. We get the latest updates and patches for Windows workstations and applications for remediation. We can automate these updates, which greatly improves our previous manual and scripting-based tools. Before, we struggled with setting policies and making changes to workstations. Now, we can automate updates and manage software licenses more effectively. We monitor who's using various licenses like Office, CAD, Visio, and Lumion.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The solution has provided the ability to pull updates directly in and push them to the server, which makes it easier for us to complete the patching in a short period of time."
"ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus is lightweight and has a remote push feature that helps me manage several main sites and subsites."
"The solution's technical support is top-notch. Whenever I have a question, they get back to me immediately, which is probably one of the best features of the solution's technical support."
"The best features in ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus are the connectivity across different platforms, such as connectivity with Rapid7, connectivity with CrowdStrike, and connectivity with the SIEM solution."
"At this point, this product satisfies our requirements."
"It is a highly stable solution."
"The automated patch deployment feature is really helpful. I can schedule it anytime, even on weekends, without needing to restart systems. The centralized management and unified console are great. It shows me which PCs are out of date or which users are breaching our policies. I can test patches before deploying them."
"Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."

"Although it is, in fact, a complete vulnerability management solution, the most valuable feature is the patch management functionality. Most of our customers give preference to this tool over other tools when it comes to patch management."

Cons

"Patching over the Internet should be improved. If I am traveling, I should have an Internet patching option for control, visibility, and vulnerability management for roaming users."
"The solution's UI is an area that requires improvement."
"The solution's initial setup is not straightforward, and we have to customize it with our relevant features."
"With the integration with the SIEM solution, there are some glitches, and if we need to integrate with multiple vulnerability management systems, it does not provide such support."
"The only area for improvement in ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus, which I noticed, is the reporting."
"Patching over the Internet should be improved."
"I experienced issues with server 2012, which required an upgrade to 2016 for better functionality before moving to Azure."
"The agent can be a bit more intelligent."
"SanerNow has good integration with the more well known ITSM tools, but at the same time there are many other ITSM (IT Service Management) tools available in the market, including local tools here in India, and I'm not sure how SanerNow plans to integrate with them all out of the box."
"SanerNow CyberHygiene Platform needs to incorporate more documentation."
