Has simplified credential management and improved secure access control across departments
The features I find most useful in Microsoft Active Directory are especially for the Single Sign-On. This is very useful for users, particularly if they have plenty of applications, such as tablet applications. When they log in to their computer, the application will automatically log in with their credentials. They don't need to remember another user and password to log in to the application because it's already maintained with Microsoft Active Directory using Single Sign-On. To assess the impact of Microsoft Active Directory's centralized domain management on security protocols and access permissions, Microsoft Active Directory itself has constraints with security because when we have a solution such as SSO or Single Sign-On, which makes it easier for users to log in, some parts have security openings. When their computer is compromised with a threat, malware, or other cyber threats, it becomes easier to enter the application without login permission.
A flexible solution for application management, and facilitated centralization of our IAM
We use HelloID for ourselves and clients, so we need to manage a lot of client environments at once. Functionality to manage this situation is not yet available. When something needs to be changed with the sign-on policies, we have to apply this manually to every client environment that we have.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The scalability of the solution is high...The initial setup of the solution is easy, and I would rate it an eight or nine out of ten on a scale of one to ten, where one being difficult and ten being easy."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is authentication."
"The ability for a single sign-on for applications."
"It is easy to understand all the components."
"Active Directory plays a focal point in security management, encompassing aspects like credential management, lifecycle, dynamic provisioning, and the network infrastructure of customers."
"One advantage of Active Directory is that you can sync it with Microsoft Office 365, so you can manage on-premise and cloud operations, which can have different requirements. The flexibility of a hybrid management solution is valuable."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Active Directory is the ability to search for computers and users. While I do not have administrative privileges to reset passwords, I can view user information such as department, and communicate with someone who can make the changes."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Active Directory is the group policies."
"The Single Sign-On capabilities are endless and we haven't found a single app so far that couldn't be set up for SSO."
"The thing we like the most is that this software is so easy to use; you don't need to be a specialist in Identity and Access Management solutions to understand the software and configure it."
"This solution helped us with centralizing our IAM; it was spread out over many places, and now we can easily control who has access to which client or client application."
"The most valuable feature is the option to use SSO from different sources such as Microsoft AD, ADFS, Azure AD, SAML, form-based, etc."
"By giving users the ability to fully manage their own workspace, while still being able to monitor and administer such actions, we can focus on new-business and projects as we like."

Cons

"In the solution, assigning permissions is complex, making it difficult to grant them at a granular level or to multiple users without templates or alternative tools."
"Could use more structure in the cloud version."
"Even better group management would be beneficial."
"In my experience, it's difficult to manage Microsoft Active Directory when the server is attacked by a threat or malware."
"Microsoft Active Directory restricts most of the features our company's employees want to use since they are involved in research and development activities."
"There is room for improvement."
"The solution should maintain the infrastructure according to the period you are in and the security changes."
"I did not have a good experience with the product's tech support. First-level support takes a lot of time since they ask many questions."
"Sometimes it generates a username that is not unique, but at the time of this writing, it is not possible to generate a new one that is unique."
"When something needs to be changed with the sign-on policies, we have to apply this manually to every client environment that we have."
"Integration with other Tools4ever applications such as SSRPM and IAM would be nice."
"I would like to have the built-in provisioning module improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The version of Microsoft Active Directory I was using was expensive because it was used for large companies."
"We have to purchase a license for the solution."
"My company makes payments every quarter towards the licensing costs of the product."
"We purchase the license for the solution on a yearly basis."
"The solution is based on a licensing model."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a four out of ten."
"The price of Microsoft Active Directory could improve. We pay annually for the solution."
"The license is perpetual and the cost is minimal. If you purchase Microsoft Windows then Microsoft Active Directory comes with the package."
"Since HelloID is very reasonably priced, the return-on-investment is fast."
"In terms of costs and pricing, this solution is worth every penny."
