Facilitating seamless integration and robust security support
The integration process is very easy, which is crucial for our organization. Another valuable aspect is the support from Microsoft. Whenever support is required, it is readily available. Additionally, I appreciate the technical expertise Microsoft brings to the table. The security features are highly satisfactory, with various options providing flexibility to implement security measures based on specific compliance requirements.

My main feedback is about the account management. I feel they should connect with clients more frequently, beyond just selling the product. They should actively seek feedback and tailor the approach to client needs. It shouldn't always be about pushing additional products. My main suggestion is focused solely on the account management approach, specifically fostering closer and more proactive client relationships. So, the pricing could also be bit improvement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Microsoft Azure API Management serves as a gateway for all API management within our tech environment and is a basic part of our DevOps toolchain."
"I like API Management's sandbox feature. It's an environment where you can test out the API before putting it into production and connecting it to a live environment."
"We use this solution for API rate limiting and for its security features against DDoS."
"Everything is already available and ready to operate without a lot of preparation work."
"The integration and API Connect are valuable when we need to connect with web services and REST APIs."
"Allows the possibility of VPN technology to connect your gateway directly with on-prem services"
"The user management is pretty seamless."
"The API management is very good."
"The security, the authentication, and the publishing qualities are great."
"The most valuable features for us are security and centralization."
"The initial setup isn't overly difficult."
"It is very secure, easy to manage, and easy to configure. It is a web-based API. Moreover, we get direct support from Oracle guys."

Cons

"I would like to see better scalability and better performance."
"Support for GraphQL could be better."
"Microsoft Azure API Management could improve the documentation. The documentation feels like marketing information and not sufficient technical information. Your easiest option is to purchase services from a Microsoft partner and this is their marketing."
"One of the most important improvements for us would be if it supported the HTTP/3 version and new protocol over a quick connection."
"Price is the first thing that comes to mind. It's quite expensive, which could be a barrier for some users."
"Microsoft Azure API Management could be improved by enhancing the visual editor of the development portal."
"There is always room for improvement. There should be more analytics abilities so you can know how much traffic there is. Log Analyzer isn't well integrated with this solution."
"They need to work on the third party integrations."
"We'd like it if they could reduce the cost without sacrificing on features."
"Oracle should actively seek feedback and tailor the approach to client needs. It shouldn't always be about pushing additional products."
"From an administration and developer point of view, the user interface and user experience are not great."
"Before gaining experience with the product, I found that it was not simple to use and things took longer to do than I had anticipated."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared to other solutions the cost is a seven out of ten."
"Since this is a cloud-based solution you have to abide by those financial limits, this creates some different challenges compared to other solutions."
"The licensing cost for Microsoft Azure API Management is publicly available and goes from a developer edition that costs $26 to $30 per month. It may have changed, but it's in the neighborhood of $30 per month. I believe there's also the enterprise edition, which is highly capable and costs $2,500 per month."
"Microsoft Azure is an expensive solution not for the large enterprises but for the medium and small."
"I rate the solution's pricing between three and four, as it could be more competitive."
"I would describe the tool's price as being in the mid-range category."
"There are additional costs to the standard licensing fees."
"The licensing fees are expensive."
"Oracle is not a cheap solution and it is not affordable for all of our clients in Portugal."
