Robust system consistently elevates data visualization and seamlessly updates with user-driven advancements
Power BI is a general-use visualization system. I can express the performance of our network through high-level key performance indicators. It allows me to show detailed improvements in quality and safety and patient experience. I create improvement dashboards for task forces and work teams. I have built analytic dashboards that guide analytics, enabling research and dataset manipulation.

Scripting is a great feature as is the ability to export almost anything
Scripting is a good feature if you have programming and scripting skills. It can be used without those skills but I think it's difficult to integrate them in PRISM. The best thing is that you can export almost anything whether it's graphics or data and you can change dates on the fly.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Power BI, once made available, can connect to various data sources, irrespective of the application, whether it be HR or business applications. The bank has many applications, but all eventually need to generate reports for tracking, distribution, or problem-finding based on analysis. Power BI was made available as part of the productivity suite to all businesses, which can connect to their applications and provide the reports and analysis they require."
"The product is easy to use and simple to navigate."
"Easy to use and the visualization is valuable."
"It integrates better with other Microsoft products. It is very easy to use and has very powerful visualizations. It has also got a lot of development going on."
"Very intuitive and easy to use."
"The initial setup is relatively simple."
"Because this solution is very easy, and very visual, you can have results in minutes."
"The solution is stable with reasonable performance."
"You can export almost anything whether it's graphics or data."

Cons

"I think that the solution is harder to use for people who are not experts in data."
"The UI looks awkward once the graphs have been generated in the console. This is what Microsoft can work on."
"Power BI's drillthrough feature could be improved. I didn't like drillthrough and those options much, but I did like it in MicroStrategy."
"The issue with the data refresh frequency in Microsoft Power BI is that it's not frequent enough."
"The licensing needs improvement. There needs to be a middle option between Pro and Premium versions."
"Better mapping capabilities and easier administration access would be beneficial, especially for understanding who has viewed reports."
"Microsoft has got a very large repository of all change suggestions which have been raised by the BI community. They keep on adding features that are very widely sought after by the community. We don't focus on product features. We focus on business requirements. To use the solution, we find that existing features are good enough and offer us a very effective solution."
"The solution could use a faster speed on certain interactions and a refresh of the dashboards."
"Graphics are limited and could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is part of our Office 365 license."
"The cost of this product is very low, at approximately $8 or $9 per month for a developer."
"Microsoft BI is very cost-effective and this is why we use it."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"Its pricing is reasonable for the desktop stuff, but for enterprise-level, it is a little expensive."
"My company needs to make monthly payments towards the licensing costs attached to the product."
"We view it as an expensive product."
"Power BI is cheaper than Tableau and Cognos."
