Real-time monitoring has improved incident detection and simplifies per-second troubleshooting
The key area for improvement is data retention and historical analysis. Netdata is excellent for real-time monitoring, but for long-term storage and deep historical insights, it usually needs to be integrated with other tools. Improving built-in long-term retention would make it more complete. Another area I see is data aggregation, where it correlates multiple nodes; while it provides great per-node visibility, having more advanced centralized views and correlations across systems would help in larger-scale environments. Customization of alerts and anomaly detection could also be enhanced. One area needing improvement is access control and security features. Stronger RBAC and user management would help control who can view data. Another area would be customization of dashboards, alerting integrations, and improving enterprise-level scalability features.

Real-time alerts have reduced server outage impact and support fast incident response
In the dashboard, if they could show a little more metrics regarding the application and related things, that would be how New Relic could be improved. Currently, there are things showing from the server level and application level, but it can be improved. That is what I felt. Regarding user interface, I do not feel much concern, but for some kind of issues when we are trying to get support from the New Relic team, their SLA seems to be long. They are taking seven to ten working days for resolving some kind of scenario or issue. That is a bit difficult for us. If they could improve the customer support by reducing their SLA within three to five days, if they could remediate everything, that will be so much helpful. When it comes to the customer support part, I felt they need to be a little more improved on that part. The support overall is good, but they can improve. That is the reason I have given it eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The biggest ROI I have seen is in incident detection, with improvements of forty to fifty percent, troubleshooting time by thirty to forty percent, and productivity gains of around twenty-five to thirty percent."
"Netdata has positively impacted my organization by improving downtime and incident response workflows through real-time visibility into infrastructure and application performance."
"From the perspective of effort and time taken while identifying issues and resolution, we have gained a lot."
"The API functionality allows us to get hit counts from external sources, such as APIs or databases, and everything is mapped very clearly."
"The tool's most valuable features were APM and core reliability. We get alerts whenever an anomaly is detected. The solution is very friendly."
"In several days, we got a great ROI due to an issue in a customer application."
"Insights with key transactions and response time, to understand which calls take the longest and where the bottlenecks are."
"The most valuable features of New Relic are the reports and ease of use."
"We all look at the data, so we are all privy to the data at the same time."
"We chose New Relic because it has all the attributes which we are using to monitor the health of servers."

Cons

"The key area for improvement is data retention and historical analysis."
"Overall, New Relic is not as good as Dynatrace."
"It would be nice if there were pre-made dashboards. There should be out-of-the-box options that you can have."
"I've heard Dynatrace say that New Relic's pricing model was very expensive, so that would be a concern."
"There have been issues in the past where stability was not fully reliable, but all problems were quickly resolved and we personally haven't had any data loss issues of any kind."
"Internally, we have a solution that’s better than Insights to provide us analysis of that data."
"Sometimes it’s too difficult to get more details about a problem. Sometimes it requires too much drilling down to find out about a problem for which we shouldn't need to do so much searching."
"The price could improve."
"The solution only supports the cloud platform and not on-premises."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"If it’s the right tool, it doesn’t matter what it costs because you’re going to get it back many-fold from your productivity."
"I think the pricing is reasonable."
"The monthly cost os $1000 per server per month, but it could be even more. We pay about $250 for the server, and then New Relic wants over $1000 to give us statistics on those servers."
"Comparatively, the pricing is expensive."
"The pricing and licensing are good if you have an account manager and a partner manager who are looking to help out."
"The price depends on how many agents you want."
"The price of the solution could be less expensive. You have to pay a lot for each user. There is an additional cost for extra features."
"We're paying for the New Relic APM license annually."
