Real-time monitoring and seamless integration enhance deployment efficiency
The main disadvantage I see is the limited awareness of Nolio Release Automation in other organizations. It is a very nice tool, but its market presence is limited. I heard from the organization that the licensing cost was somewhat expensive. Perhaps focusing on marketing efforts would be beneficial. It is a really nice tool, and I am unsure why many organizations are not using Nolio Release Automation. It is one of the greatest tools for continuous deployment, yet its popularity remains limited. Some organizations are not aware of its existence. This might be an area worth researching and potentially developing new marketing strategies.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution has been really helpful with its flowchart-type interface; we can easily configure the deployments through drag and drop functionality, and we can define the process and components using the flowchart."
"Its benefits to us are of pulling our project together and making us more efficient."
"The benefits achieved for the clients are: Reduction in downtime, less time to market, shorter turn around times in case of failure, earlier development, and Ops teams who used to work in silos are now more coordinated."
"It has reduced deployment times from nearly a couple of hours to around a couple of minutes, especially on production environments."
"Applications that have been on boarded into the Release Automation application have shown a decrease in deployment time and down time for maintenance."
"Without CA Release Automation, there's no way we could deliver that level of code to our end-customers."
"It's a lot easier to deploy software through CA than using a manual process or through GPOs."
"Deployments have been automated fully and now all the teams follow a single, error-free approach of deployment, which is time saving and seldom faults."
"UrbanCode Deploy has really transformed the way we do code deployment, connecting development and operations more closely."
"This saves time, and makes the process much more reliable, reversible, repeatable, and traceable."
"It is very easy to make a software release. It used to take us at least a couple of hours to make a release, now we went to production with a new one last night. This new release took me five minutes."
"It reduced more than 70% of our manual effort when it automated deployment of both UNIX and Windows-based applications using UrbanCode Deploy."
"Coming from where we were and getting to where we are was just never could have been done without uDeploy and it's just incredibly powerful for us."
"This product is excellent for deploying components and running processes related to deployments."
"It was very easy to install and configure IBM UrbanCode Deploy and remotely deploy its agents."
"Stable solution that's good for automating the CI/CD pipeline: from development to production."

Cons

"Initial setup is a bit complex."
"I think the biggest complaint that we've gotten from the development side is that the user interface, the experience is not as good as they'd like it to be."
"In version 6.6, we faced numerous performance issues. This might be because it is a six-year-old version, and we are supporting nearly 1,500 applications and 15,000 to 16,000 agents."
"Technical Support: 7/10 because they can be more efficient to solve issues, and you always have to prove that the issues don’t come from your infrastructure but from the product."
"The performance degrades as the size of the workflow and the number of target servers increases."
"Whenever we pick a new solution and we try to install it, there are some hiccups in the initial stage."
"Scalability also got better over time. It was not scalable when we started with it."
"I also think that the cost of this product is high."
"There are also many bugs in UrbanCode Deploy."
"The reporting functionality is limited and it is difficult to retrieve information from the database due to the table structure."
"The scalability of this application needs improvement. Changes and variations in the application become bottlenecks as they need to be more seamless and comfortable."
"There have been a lot of broken stoppages in uDeploy 6.1.2, particularly in the upgrade."
"The technical support of the solution could definitely be improved as PMRs take long to resolve."
"Full blown support for repositories such a SonaType Nexus would be better than having to deploy an agent to watch particular filesystem paths."
"WebSphere deployments, for some reason, don’t work out-of-the-box."
"I would like to have the agent up and running at all times, as opposed to only while it is in the DevOps pipeline."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Nolio is a pretty much good tool, though its pricing is relatively high in the market. It's more expensive than other tools."
"Considering COVID-19, the price is too high."
"The cost of the solution is high but it offers great ROI."
"The licensing fees for this solution are based on the number of servers that are being deployed and the number of agents that you have."
