Centralized identity governance has automated lifecycle management and simplifies compliance
One Identity Manager could be improved by making the initial setup and configuration simpler, especially for complex workflows and integrations. The user interface and reporting dashboards could also be more modern and intuitive with better out-of-the-box analytics. Additionally, clearer documentation and faster implementation guidance would help organizations get value more quickly. One specific challenge my team encountered was the complexity during initial configuration, especially when setting up custom workflows and role models which required more time and expertise. We also felt that out-of-the-box reports and dashboards are limited, and more customizable real-time analytics would be helpful. Better documentation and guided setup wizards would make adoption easier, particularly for teams new to identity governance tools. One improvement I think One Identity Manager needs is the enhanced self-service experience. The end-user self-service portal could be more intuitive with clearer guidance for access requests and password resets. Additionally, while integrations are solid, deeper cloud-native connectors and API-driven automation would help in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. A more responsive mobile interface or dedicated app for approvals and tasks would help managers who are often on the go. One more improvement is the built-in predictive insights or trend dashboards around access patterns and risk could improve proactive governance. More descriptive error messages and in-tool troubleshooting tips during setup configuration would reduce dependency on external documentation or support.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This solution helps with compliance by having a way of controlling an audit trail, knowing how things are done, and knowing how to control who has access to what."
"The solution provides an identity-centric approach which supports achieving a Zero Trust model, and it significantly reduces operational costs by allowing the same number of support team members to manage a greater number of systems."
"We were able to clear up some audit actions by providing evidence we have a proper, controlled approval process."
"One Identity Manager is highly recommended, as it is a really strong solution to govern identity for any organization with complex access requirements and offers good automation, compliance support, and governance control that, with proper planning, delivers strong value as a capable and mature IAM solution."
"The flexibility of the solution: We are able to use what is out-of-the-box, customize and prioritize it, then further develop it to meet our needs."
"What I like the most is the flexibility or configurability. It is not like you are writing huge lines of code. It allows us to handle our very complex enterprise use cases, and we have many of those."
"Among the most valuable features of One Identity Manager are administration from Active Directory and Azure Active Directory, as well as administration from Exchange. These features enable us to have fully automated processes to create new accounts and new mailboxes. The most valuable option is the ability to design an automated route to give our customers permissions."
"The Data Importer is a great tool to create an ETL. It generates code which is easy to maintain later without the tool."
"The self-service functionality for password/access management reduced our need for manual intervention."
"For v8.4, you can work easily if you stick to OOTB, however, should you require customization, then the tool is very flexible using SQL/VB knowledge to extend."

Cons

"The user interface of our web shop, which customers interact with directly, needs improvement."
"It's costlier than some other products and there is nothing that fits every solution."
"Their technical support's attitude is a bit strange. Quite often, we have to prove that there is a problem with the product rather than having them prove that there is not a problem with the product."
"One Identity Manager needs to come up with many more out-of-the-box connectors, similar to Workday and ServiceNow."
"Make the logging and debugging easier to find, because I'm always confused, "Where do I have to go to turn this log on if I want to see it?""
"Another area for improvement in the tool is its ServiceNow connection as ServiceNow is a major ITSM system player, but the current out-of-the-box feature proposed by One Identity Manager can only make simple incident requests to the system."
"What is missing is a mobile user interface for the end-users so that they can do simple things on their mobile phones on the go."
"One Identity Manager can be improved because implementation and administration require specialized knowledge, and deployment efforts can be significant."
"Moving from v7.x to v8.x is not easy. You need Courion expertise and skills to upgrade and migrate the data."
"Stability was a constant concern. The application was plagued with memory leak issues from initial installation and through multiple major/minor version upgrades."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"One Identity Manager has a reasonable price point."
"Prices in Turkey are high due to inflation, a challenge we've heard about from our customers."
"It is cost-effective. I do not know about the other regions, but here in the Middle East, the competitors are almost double the price."
"I rate One Identity seven out of 10 for affordability. It's reasonably priced."
"It's not cheap, but the pricing is okay. Other applications cost about the same."
"One Identity Manager is expensive."
"It helps us save on licenses for applications because we are following the account lifecycle, as well as account reactivation."
"It is fairly priced because they provide all the features by default. That is why they charge a bit more than other vendors. I am not sure about the exact cost part, but One Identity is a little bit more expensive than IBM and other tools."
