Centralized identity governance has automated lifecycle management and simplifies compliance
One Identity Manager could be improved by making the initial setup and configuration simpler, especially for complex workflows and integrations. The user interface and reporting dashboards could also be more modern and intuitive with better out-of-the-box analytics. Additionally, clearer documentation and faster implementation guidance would help organizations get value more quickly. One specific challenge my team encountered was the complexity during initial configuration, especially when setting up custom workflows and role models which required more time and expertise. We also felt that out-of-the-box reports and dashboards are limited, and more customizable real-time analytics would be helpful. Better documentation and guided setup wizards would make adoption easier, particularly for teams new to identity governance tools. One improvement I think One Identity Manager needs is the enhanced self-service experience. The end-user self-service portal could be more intuitive with clearer guidance for access requests and password resets. Additionally, while integrations are solid, deeper cloud-native connectors and API-driven automation would help in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. A more responsive mobile interface or dedicated app for approvals and tasks would help managers who are often on the go. One more improvement is the built-in predictive insights or trend dashboards around access patterns and risk could improve proactive governance. More descriptive error messages and in-tool troubleshooting tips during setup configuration would reduce dependency on external documentation or support.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One Identity Manager simplifies user operations and provides security features, including automatic blocking of inactive accounts and timely access revocation."
"One Identity Manager's strong automation is the best feature, as it has reduced manual effort during user onboarding and access management."
"It is highly customizable, a feature that influenced our company's decision. We can easily customize it."
"Using One Identity Manager has boosted our security in our organization."
"Mapping roles to users is a seamless experience that offers a lot of leverage in terms of speed and compliance, making it a very useful feature."
"If others want to maintain the life cycle and make the process easy, One Identity Manager is the product they should go for."
"It has made us much more effective and efficient in providing access to users and in managing certain processes."
"We have been able to make our help desk self-sufficient by giving them role-based access, reduce service dependency by 40% to 50%, and save 60% to 70% of onboarding time because users are provisioned with the right access and are ready to go from day one."
"The self-service functionality for password/access management reduced our need for manual intervention."
"For v8.4, you can work easily if you stick to OOTB, however, should you require customization, then the tool is very flexible using SQL/VB knowledge to extend."

Cons

"Improvements in documentation would be beneficial."
"A room for improvement in One Identity Manager is its analytics."
"A major area for improvement is Web Designer. If One Identity Manager advances this, it will greatly benefit all customers. Web Designer is based on legacy Microsoft technologies like ASP.NET and HTML."
"User experience with One Identity Manager is somewhat difficult compared to cloud SaaS solutions like Saviyent and SailPoint."
"There are some good things about the policy and role management features, but you can't really use them to their full potential."
"Upgrading to a new version is consistently challenging and time-consuming."
"One Identity Manager is a strong IGA solution; however, there are a few areas for improvement. The user interface is complex and less intuitive, which requires new users time to navigate."
"Sometimes, when we implement One Identity in the organization, customization has to happen. You cannot skip the customization. You cannot just implement the One Identity model and go ahead with it. However, whenever we make any customizations, the logic of the customization can interfere with the existing logging of One Identity. All such things have to be a bit clear. They have to be well documented. One Identity should provide information about how these things work."
"Moving from v7.x to v8.x is not easy. You need Courion expertise and skills to upgrade and migrate the data."
"Stability was a constant concern. The application was plagued with memory leak issues from initial installation and through multiple major/minor version upgrades."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Start with an operations team that is motivated to learn a lot in a short period of time. The longer you wait, the more expensive it will be to get the right level of expertise in this area."
"It needs flexibility in the licensing or packaging, because you buy the entire package at once, and sometimes the customers are a bit overwhelmed with whatever they get. I would like if they could cut the licensing or packaging into somewhat smaller things."
"I rate One Identity seven out of 10 for affordability. It's reasonably priced."
"It is fairly priced because they provide all the features by default. That is why they charge a bit more than other vendors. I am not sure about the exact cost part, but One Identity is a little bit more expensive than IBM and other tools."
"The licensing cost is per user."
"I am aware of the cost. For us, it is quite cost-efficient. We have a good enterprise license agreement, and we are very happy with what we get for the price we pay for it."
"Its price is okay."
"One Identity is cost-efficient from a licensing perspective. However, one drawback is that it's expensive on the hardware side for the customer to set up. One Identity's professional services team recommends various components. They lose some of the cost advantage because the hardware is expensive and requires maintenance."
