Has improved database monitoring and enabled proactive threat detection across multiple clients
We have created customized alerts to help prevent unauthorized access, specifically for one of the banks, collaborating with the team to set it up on the core banking database. Organizations considering Oracle Audit Vault should recognize that its integration to Oracle database is seamless, allowing for detailed reporting, alerts, and high security. We have worked with customizable alerts regarding Oracle Audit Vault. We have created one alert based on the categories available in Oracle Audit Vault. Oracle Audit Vault uses an agent that is pushed from the appliance, which I downloaded the JAR file from. We are now considering creating a replication and patching process with planned downtime, but we have not yet experienced scaling out or patching. I would rate this review with an overall rating of nine.

Beneficial data security, good support, and straightforward initial setup
The initial setup of Protegrity Data Security was straightforward. However, we had a few problems, it's not multi-tenanted. It does not have a hierarchy of roles and differential priorities. To have the initial sandbox version of Protegrity Data Security up and running, took approximately one week. However, it needed to be set up in a resilient way because if it fails, then it is going to be a challenge bringing back the lost information. We have to be particular in terms of architecting it correctly which is taking us a bit of time. We are anticipating anywhere between four to six weeks to be finished.

Pros

"The feature that I have found most valuable is that it can help us secure our databases."
"Some of the most basic reasons for choosing Oracle's AVDF product are: User friendly (easy to use because it is not complicated to use)."
"The setup for Audit Vault is relatively simple."
"All of the other components that make up the infrastructure in the environment including the operating system are also quite valuable."
"The critical event alerts and reporting features have greatly reduced loss of man hours that would have been spent on going through the whole audit event logs."
"The feature that I have found most valuable is that it can help us secure our databases."
"This solution acts as a complete data warehouse for our audit data."
"It has reduced the stress of collecting database event logs in silos from each database."

Cons

"Some of our customers were asking about latency when the application wants to get to the database."
"Oracle Audit Vault is very stable, with the exception of some certificate issues that disrupted the environment for up to a month."
"Currently, you need two servers: one for Audit Vault and one for the firewall. If they can combine them into one server, it will be great because it is costly to have two servers. It will also make its installation easier. I have heard that in the new version, there will be only one server for both."
"I hear from many people that say IBM Guardian is better than Oracle Audit Vault when it comes to performance."
"An easy, friendly user interface would be nice to have, since this would enable administrators to identify important events with a prompt response."
"One feature that is missing is the ability to have a secret server that is always encrypted."
"Although Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall serves as a critical detective and preventive control to protect against the abuse of legitimate access to databases responsible for almost all data breaches and cyber attacks, using Database Firewall to identify and capturing audit logs of real users, especially on applications using generic users to access the database, is an uphill task."
"I actually encountered stability issues in DPE mode, but it was with the first release."
"Protegrity Data Security could improve by having more integration."
"Protegrity is using a different OS which has some bugs. Sometimes it's causing an initialization error."
"The solution's UI could be better."
"Protegrity Data Security could improve by having more integration."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"For the bank, the license was $48,000 last time. That was the licensing for the bank on just one license."
"Oracle can be an expensive solution depending on the options and user needs."
"The licensing cost is about $360,000, annually."
"This solution is definitely not expensive, and it is a small fraction of the overall database licensing costs."
"We pay for a few additional services apart from its licenses."
