Straightforward to implement, scalable, and has good stability and documentation, but technical support could still be improved
My company has around ten users of Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). A team of two to five people handles the deployment and maintenance of the solution. The current client of my company has this plan of moving to the cloud, with the possibility of replacing the ETL tool altogether, which could mean that more data is coming up, so there may be a plan to increase the usage of Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). My advice to others looking into implementing Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is that if your database is on Oracle or SQL server, then Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is a good tool to use. My rating for Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is seven out of ten.

Enhances operational efficiency with valuable prepackaged content and cost-effective pricing
For organizations that operate within an SAP ecosystem, SAP Process Orchestration is recommended due to its cost-effectiveness and the availability of valuable prepackaged content. It is important to consider the needs of your industry, as SAP Process Orchestration may not meet all requirements in consumer-oriented sectors. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Besides loading data, we do most of our transformations in ODI."
"ODI is a very accessible tool, especially since the mapping functionality has been added."
"It is an ETL tool, which does the extract, transform, and load."
"What I found most valuable in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is that it integrates well with almost all technologies currently being used in my company."
"The solution's initial setup is straightforward, especially compared to Mule, which our team has worked with before and found to be a bit more complex in terms of setup."
"The product has an ELT approach."
"It allows us to use many languages to develop and to integrate practically all the technologies of the Oracle suite as well as those from non-Oracle vendors."
"One of the standout features of ODI is its ability to prepare everything on a vertical level and create reusable components, which adds to its value."
"I rate the product's setup phase a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy since it is a very easy process."
"It is a scalable solution."
"SAP Process Orchestration has all the features that are necessary."
"The main benefit is that the solution is low maintenance. Moreover, it's the license cost is very low because it's part of the package. The maintenance is standard maintenance. And the updates are regular. So there's a regular update and you can choose whether you want to do those updates or not."
"The performance of data processing has increased."
"t is a pretty stable solution. I have not seen any outages in the solution."
"The solution offers very good documentation and manuals to assist with understanding the solution."
"The monitoring tools are the most valuable feature."

Cons

"It would be really good if Oracle considered enabling the tool to integrate with some other platforms that are deprecated simply for commercial reasons"
"I rate it a seven out of 10 because there is room for growth because ODI is still new, in comparison to Informatica, which is a mature product."
"If you have something like Cisco on top of it, you will have endless problems."
"Overall the product is fine, but sometimes its reports unknown errors while we compile ETL scripts."
"There could be better compatibility with other ETL tools and cloud platforms."
"The initial setup is complex, especially if you also have to install a console."
"An area for improvement would be the lack of SQL compatibility - ODI has no ability to interact with SQL unstructured types and data types."
"The price needs to be lowered. It's too expensive."
"Process Orchestration doesn't provide authentication for data sent to us, meaning we have to rely on client certificate-based or basic authentication."
"The solution could be more scalable."
"Some configurations can be a little tricky."
"It's very difficult to find errors in a simple way."
"The solution could improve by making it more user-friendly by limiting the code required. We have to add some code in some cases where we need complex logic or some other functions. If this was able to be done in a more simplified manner then it would save a lot of effort and time."
"Process Orchestration needs to provide secure connectivity as no one has any data information."
"SAP Process Orchestration breaks down sometimes."
"Data modeling is an area of concern in the product where improvements are required."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license can be costly, but in certain complex cases, ODI proves to be the optimal solution."
"I have yet to determine the exact figure for Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) pricing, but it has lower pricing than Informatica."
"Per user, it is $900 USD per year, though they will give some discount. However, even a 60% to 70% of discount for each won't help us much. On top of that, there is the perpetual license you must pay at the outset."
"The solution is very expensive."
"Being an ODI developer, I never had to pay for this product. I know that the pricing/licensing is not really low, but the product is really good."
"We found that the cost compared to other integration tools is a little high, but the solution works great."
"The Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) pricing isn't expensive, but it's not cheap, so it's in the middle. I'd rate the pricing as three out of five."
"There is a standard license to use the solution but there are other costs in addition, such as hardware and operating system."
"The price of SAP Process Orchestration was reasonable."
"We subscribe to annual licenses, and the competitive license cost is reasonable."
"Looking at market conditions, vendors nowadays are giving products at very low price levels. However, SAP Process Orchestration have not yet reduced their prices. The prices could be reduced a lot to stay competitive."
"The pricing depends on what type of client you are with SAP and the contract you have. There is a licensing cost that needs to be paid."
"Normally, you will have to choose CPU-based licensing...I rate the tool price a five out of ten."
"My company deals with different pricing models of the product, according to which we don't pay for the solution directly, but we do pay for the maintenance part."
"The product is not a low-priced solution, but I can say that it is competitively priced in the market."
"It is a very expensive solution. We only pay for the license."
