Decades of use have delivered secure, customizable control for public sector operations and finance
I have just completed three assessments: one on inventory demand planning, another on using artificial intelligence to bring supplier contracts in portable document format directly into PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft works both internally as well as with third-party products that integrate seamlessly with PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft operates both from a need-to-know-only basis as well as being able at the same time to do group purchase and realize large quantity purchase discounts. My clients have used marketplaces, and it is really industry-specific whether they use one or not, or if there is even one available. I would rate this product nine out of ten.

Outages can be managed and performed in a shorter period of time. It is compliant with best practice guidelines.
An improvement for this product would be to have more pre-defined key performance indicators for the plant managers. The product provides several baseline reports, dashboards and KPIs that provide insight into specific business operations, displayed in graphical terms or as detailed reports. The presented information can be used to influence business decisions by presenting a clear picture of the selected indicators that show how a business functions. If the product has from the beginning more pre-defined indicators, the plant managers can benefit more from the beginning from the product implementation. Of course any time a new indicator can be developed according to the specific requests, but this will take time.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"PeopleSoft allows you to schedule upgrades and inform users beforehand. This gives your IT team time to manage the implementation and minimize disruption."
"PeopleSoft is a very solid and robust product."
"We've had a really excellent customer experience with it because of two main features -- it's easy to upgrade and it interfaces well with other systems."
"PeopleSoft is resilient and has the flexibility for us to customize it."
"Having a complete enterprise solution where all the reporting is in our own centralized system is great."
"The most valuable features most important to me are the web solution, the web interface, and the integration with other ECM products."
"The most valuable feature for us is the integration between the HR Payroll and Financials modules."
"HR/payroll is integrated with Financials, so we don't have to enter data in two places."
"The outages can be easily managed and performed in a shorter period of time, and the preventive and corrective maintenance activities can be easily planned and managed."

Cons

"It would be nice if it became even more declarative in its development."
"This is an area I would warn others about. I've worked on several implementations and there's a long period of time within which PeopleSoft needs to be implemented."
"Areas for improvement include implementing/upgrading tools and documentation. The Oracle support website can be difficult to navigate."
"The main area for improvement would be with performance in some cases, specifically with migrations."
"The UI and appearance of People Soft needs a lot of upgrading and modernization."
"The Time and Labor module is not that flexible."
"One of the areas that could improve is the capability of utilizing mobile for some of the self-service activities that are missing. They are running on the older platform. What is happening is people are focusing on the cloud. PeopleSoft is a good provider and should into the cloud. That could be an advantage for them. Customers would not have to go find another solution that is a completely different platform that has different functionality altogether."
"Oracle PeopleSoft HCM is one of the most expensive systems in the HCM area, so if the organization has budget limitations, then I would not recommend this system."
"An improvement for this product would be to have more pre-defined key performance indicators for the plant managers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"One of the cheapest solutions available and also one of the best."
"Yearly payments are to be made toward the licensing costs of PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft is not very expensive, so I feel it is an affordable product."
"The solution is priced per module."
"Mostly yearly payments are to be made toward licensing costs. It is not much of an expensive solution."
"PeopleSoft has a yearly maintenance fee."
"The product's cost depends on the number of people in your company or the number of paychecks processed. They charge based on these factors, plus a maintenance fee. I'm not sure about current pricing since Oracle took over."
"I would rate the pricing an eight out of ten, with ten being expensive."
"The main issue we have with the solution is that it is very expensive."
