Customization has enabled long-term document and requirement management for complex projects
PTC Integrity should get rid of the old thick client and move everything to the thin client. The thin client should be made the single source of truth, the way it is for Codebeamer. PTC Integrity should try to integrate this with AI and should have automatic requirement to test case mapping and other AI features that are in Codebeamer. It is not easy for people to migrate from one tool to another, even though it is from the same product. PTC took over the In-Link product, so if I have to migrate my Integrity to In-Link, why would I replicate everything here? People are happy with what they have. The only headache is the thick client, which is a problem for the installation team. By having a thin client, people can directly open it from the web browser and it would be much easier and much better than a thick client on the system. With a thick client, you have Java installation that needs to be done and you have all those certificates to be installed for SSL. With a thin client, it would be much better and you could do all the administrative things also in that. I don't understand why they want a thick client. They could replace it with a thin client, the way it is for Codebeamer. They should incorporate all the AI things. PTC Integrity should become another tool with all the new features and new enhancements, and they should eliminate the thick client altogether.

Reporting is my main area of concern. Additionally, the migration activity and portability are important areas for improvement. If I needed to move from Jira to Rally Software, having built-in portability or migration utilities would be beneficial. At the time of my use, there was not an inbuilt capability to migrate applications from other third-party solutions to Rally Software. Currently, I am not using Rally Software.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is flexible in terms of customization, you can bend and reformat it in many ways, and you can also customize the APIs and public functions."
"The tool is quite structured and has a good command set."
"The product is powerful and stable."
"I have found that previously, the OEM sector was managing everything, possibly manually. However, with the introduction of the product, it has become much easier for customers to handle their products. Previously, customers were using different software to manage their products. However, PTC Integrity offers a solution for requirements management, test management, and even development to support live ticket management. So instead of using multiple software tools, we can use it for all these purposes."
"The most valuable feature of PTC Integrity is its integration with our existing PTC tools, especially for drawing release activities."
"This tools improve teams productivity, a lot of flexibility for automation."
"PTC Integrity provides some set of APIs which makes it very flexible to build an end-to-end SaaS product and an end-to-end software product."
"PTC Integrity has good stability."
"We now have a more holistic view of how development teams are executing against the enterprise’s strategic roadmap."
"We use Rally Software extensively in our agile development processes. We have program boards set up where we write and break down stories. We assign story points and map dependencies between different stories, showing how stories from one team may depend on stories from another team."
"The effect of these kind of tools drives the way you organize things. It helps you shape the way you flow."
"CA Agile Central provides visibility into how teams are meeting business objectives."
"When we reached out for technical support via the CA Agile Central team at our organization, when we had some particular requests, they were absolutely incredible."
"Parts of our business use Agile Central to deliver in an agile and features-based method, and it is a much more user-friendly product compared to other products in market."
"If you compare Quality Center vs Agile Central, the latter is much better."
"This product had helped my organization so much because it helped us keep everything tracked."

Cons

"Overall, we are not very happy with PTC Integrity."
"It's not easy to plan on this solution and it's not user-friendly. The interface should be more like a web interface. It's not easy to use."
"From my experience over the years, I believe there might be room for improvement in PTC Integrity. While it's already a good product, it tends to be slower than other software. When it becomes bulky, it slows down even more, sometimes leading to crashes or hangs that require restarting the computer before being able to use PTC Integrity again. This has been my experience multiple times."
"You can use it for things from the previous decade. After 2010, whatever you want to do in terms of programming is very unusable."
"The web version does not have all the functionalities of the non-web version."
"PTC Integrity is causing us a headache. We have to install it in 3,000 different systems."
"Scalability is a little difficult because the product gets slower as it's scaled."
"To be honest, the third controller system is kind of old. There are lots of transactional changes that have not been implemented in PTC. If you have a larger project, for example, whenever you give bits and need to change 10,000 files you can just commit them. But here the work style is a little more file based, so you'll have to take care of almost all the files individually. It's not a single commit like you do here, but rather you have to allocate time for each component or file that you want to check in or commit. That's a very big issue."
"As a result, we cannot use this tool for defect management."
"As it is right now, it does not support automation of the quality assurance process. It just supports manual testing."
"It could do with a wider range of colours for cards and the Kanban features need some improvement (which I know is on the way this year)."
"Currently, I would prefer to use QAComplete by SmartBear to track test cases, since CA Agile Central doesn’t work well with reporting on that level or for that matter on any level."
"What I don't like about it is that it is really hard to find old work to reference information and use the reporting section of the application in terms of trying to analyze trends. If I am trying to find out which interfaces took this long and I want to compare and measure improvement from one quarter to another quarter, the reporting mechanism within Rally is very troublesome. They have an Excel plugin that you're supposed to use, but you literally have to pull the raw data out before you can do the analysis. You can't do it within Rally, and if you can, it is a secret, and I don't know how to do it. It should have better, easier, and user-friendly reporting without having to use the Excel add-in. It is very clunky. There is a lot of data in there, but it is not organized in such a way that makes it intuitive. You really have to kind of look for where do you put your documentation or dates. Some customization is available, but it is not plug-and-play like Jira. When I switched from TFS to Jira, I just went and started using Jira, whereas with Rally, you kind of have to really get in and figure out what you need to do before you set stuff up, or you're going to get yourself stuck. You can just start using Jira and be successful."
"The initial install was complex."
"It's a partial solution. It's a big problem for us right now."
"Stability of the product is not good."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is expensive."
"We are always looking for a discount, if the solution was less expensive it would be a benefit."
"From a price point, it's a cost effective solution for our needs."
"I don't know the exact pricing, but I think the tool is priced high. They provide quality workmanship, good software, regular upgrades, and they're always attentive and listen to users. Everything comes with a price. I think it's an expensive solution compared to Jira or other competitors, but it's a complete package."
"I understand it's a little more expensive. That is why many people prefer Jira."
"It is expensive and may not be worthwhile for a small company."
"The license costs are fairly high as compared to some of the other solutions out there."
"Rally Software costs $50 a month, and for a base account, that price is acceptable."
"Frankly, pricing is expensive and needs to be carefully planned for when budgeting."
