Sisense and SAP Business Data Cloud compete in the business intelligence and analytics category. Sisense appears to have the upper hand due to its user-friendliness and rapid deployment capabilities.
Features: Sisense is known for its intuitive interface and ease of use, making it suitable for fast-paced environments. It allows users to connect multiple data sources quickly to create complex data cubes. Additionally, its strong documentation and responsive sales support facilitate a smooth buying process. SAP Business Data Cloud excels at integrating seamlessly with SAP ecosystems, offering advanced predictive analytics and AI features. It combines BI, predictive, and planning functionalities in one robust platform, providing comprehensive business planning capabilities.
Room for Improvement: Sisense's flexibility in data connections and handling of complex schemas can improve. Advanced users may find its interface limiting, suggesting a need for more technical configurations. SAP Business Data Cloud could enhance its visualization features to compete with Power BI or Tableau and simplify its integration process with non-SAP systems. Licensing constraints also pose challenges in terms of accessibility and cost-effectiveness.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Sisense is easily deployable across different cloud environments and praised for requiring minimal customer support due to its intuitive setup. Its customer service is responsive, aiding technical onboarding. SAP Business Data Cloud primarily uses public cloud offerings with seamless deployment within SAP's ecosystem, but faces higher complexity and cost for multi-cloud integration. It benefits from SAP's robust support network.
Pricing and ROI: Sisense is competitively priced with flexible models for various organizational scales, though it may seem costly compared to Power BI or Tableau. Its ROI is realized through time savings and reduced manual reporting. SAP Business Data Cloud's higher pricing is justified by extensive integration capabilities within SAP ecosystems. While the cost can be a barrier for smaller enterprises, it offers substantial value when used within the full SAP suite, enhancing strategic insights and planning efficiency.
We have saved a lot on the number of employees, and implementation time for the projects has reduced significantly since we started using the standard features of SAP Business Data Cloud.
Once the content is available, then it is a faster go-live with lesser cost in implementation, and that would give an ROI.
There is a return on investment with SAP Business Data Cloud, as it saves money because it performs results quickly and easily, facilitating integrations and speeding up operations compared to other analytics tools, thereby saving time and money.
It makes it very easy for us to make data-driven decisions and we are able to forecast our future predicament or future plans, hence increasing or boosting productivity in my organization.
Due to the data presented to stakeholders, they are able to make informed decisions that impact the day-to-day operations of the client, giving them more insights into what's happening within their organization.
I have seen a return on investment in that we can manage the Sisense environment with a very small number of users.
The technical support is a very well-organized service, with a lot of tools for me as a consultant and for the end user on how to contact SAP support and get issues solved.
For example, when I provide a set of instructions, they often simply ask me to implement those steps without checking whether they are applicable.
In SAP's policy, for the first couple of years, the product team is also part of the support team.
The support was very good.
We typically get responses within 24 hours.
Sisense customer support has been top-notch, great, and very responsive.
SAP Analytics Cloud can be used by a small company, and it can be used by a large corporate.
Since SAP has consolidated everything on one platform, there is ample room to expand as much as needed.
There are no limitations in terms of scale, so it fits both SMB customers and enterprise customers.
It is scalable to a very large extent and we can integrate any third-party tools.
Sisense's scalability is impressive as it can crunch a lot more data and has consistently better performance.
Sisense works really well for simple to medium use cases and scales well.
You have a chance to test it on your test tenant in small increments, so it should not break your productive reports and productive environment.
Other than during these quarterly release periods, the availability is excellent.
In a typical quarter, the availability has been over 99%; in a few cases, it dropped to around 98.5%.
Sisense is very stable and can handle a large amount of data quickly.
On the other hand, it is perfectly fitting to the SAP environment, with seamless integration to all SAP modules, not only ERP but also SuccessFactors and other tools from the SAP family.
If SAP can come up with innovative options to reduce licensing costs, many customers would incline toward SAP Business Data Cloud.
If I compare the cost with SAP competitors, I find that when creating an enterprise data lake, if I don't use SAP Business Data Cloud and make it directly in the hyperscalers, it is pretty much cheaper than doing the same in SAP Business Data Cloud.
I would like to see an improvement in the live data connection, specifically making the process faster.
It could provide more connectors to integrate with emerging different data sources to exponentially increase the amount of data it can handle.
I give Sisense a nine because the integration with some third-party tools is good.

Frankly, pricing, setup cost, and licensing seem a bit high compared to other hyperscalers.
The pricing for SAP Business Data Cloud is higher compared to alternatives.
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is that it is cost-effective, but for smaller organizations working under a tight budget, this tool might be a bit expensive for them.
There was no significant difference in pricing between Sisense and ThoughtSpot.
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing shows that pricing is a little bit higher when compared to other applications, but that justifies the use case.
For SuccessFactors and S/4HANA Cloud, there are pre-built reports available which are commonly used by customers.
SAP Business Data Cloud has positively impacted my organization by federating SAP data, which is now available for all to use.
The main standout feature is BDC Connect, as it is very useful for sharing data without replicating to third-party tools such as Enterprise Databricks, Snowflake or even in the near future, Google BigQuery as well as Microsoft Fabric.
It offers two ways to access data: by cubing the data or hitting it live.
It allows the user to cater to different use cases and is a very fast aggregator across different data sources, giving you the historical context and helping in operationalizing your data.
Sisense has positively impacted my organization by drastically reducing the time taken to build the data cube, and we can see real-time analytics.
