Offers comprehensive monitoring and tool consolidation but integration complexity needs improvement
There is room for improvement in the speed of setting up the service and integrating PowerPacks. Although these prebuilt features are great, there is considerable complexity in bringing them together to create a unified dashboard. Even with many good integrations and deep visibility, the implementation takes time, especially when it doesn't involve these integrations. While some other companies have easier APIs, using this solution demands significant expertise. It's challenging for new customers to implement independently. The implementation speed of non-PowerPack or non-out-of-the-box integrations should be improved. Additionally, the AI automation feature is not yet very rich due to resource constraints supporting a wide platform.

Monitoring has become more efficient and resource usage has dropped significantly
VictoriaMetrics is built with memory constraints in mind, and we saved a significant amount of memory after implementing it. The first advantage is that it is quite easy to use, and we can leverage PromQL queries in VictoriaMetrics with a straightforward deployment process. The best aspect of using VictoriaMetrics is the reduction in resources including RAM, memory, disk, and other infrastructure requirements, which have all decreased substantially after implementation. We observed that RAM was reduced by around 70% and disk usage by 75%, while write speed increased 3x and query per second P95 latency became 7x faster. The financial savings are significant because we observed a substantial reduction in resources such as CPU and memory after adopting VictoriaMetrics.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has good monitoring capabilities across cloud environments, data centers, and hybrid environments."
"Technical Support: The best I've ever experienced."
"ScienceLogic is multi-tenant from the ground up, starting at the code level."
"The best feature is how customizable the platform is, as it can be integrated into various systems and processes and customized to the client's liking."
"After deploying ScienceLogic in our infrastructure and configured IT services around our critical applications we have experienced a considerable drop in major incidents which impact our customers."
"The power flow is great."
"It has given us comprehensive monitoring across all platforms."
"ScienceLogic was good at proactively identifying problems and could turn a 45-minute outage into a 20-minute outage or even catch early warning signs and solve issues in advance."
"We observed that RAM was reduced by around 70% and disk usage by 75%, while write speed increased 3x and query per second P95 latency became 7x faster."

Cons

"From a performance perspective, it needs to improve a lot."
"Use the professional services proposed solution to support private MIBs, we are encountering what appears to be poling time outs, which creates false positives."
"We want to understand: how does the back end work? What if some problem occurs? What we can do? They need to provide more information."
"Reporting needs to be improved. It was sold as a tool we could use for our clients and it was a complete failure."
"Before ScienceLogic, our monitoring was fairly difficult to do. We were kind of limited in our capabilities."
"We often face bugs when there's a new release."
"I believe the knowledge base leaves a little room for improvement."
"The UI takes a bit to learn but once you get past that it gets the job done."
"The main area that needs improvement in VictoriaMetrics is the documentation itself, as the support is adequate and the open-source project does provide replies within one to two days."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its price could be lower, but for what you pay, you got a lot of value from its features and functionalities. Customers always want a discount or a cheaper solution."
"The solution is license-based. It's between $8 and $15, depending on what you need from the product."
"Decide what you want to monitor and only monitor those items. Absorb other elements as you grow."
"I'm not the best person to discuss pricing, but what I do know is that it's a use-and-go structure. You use this much storage and pay this much for it. That's how it is. Every time, we continue to add a large amount of data to the environment."
"The pricing model for ScienceLogic could improve."
"It comes with the OS built in, so no need to purchase an OS license or DB license."
"The license of ScienceLogic is based on how many endpoints are used. The number of monitoring points you want to have."
"Plan for adding more to it. Once you see EM7 in action, you will want to keep adding systems to monitor."
