Efficient in vulnerability management, stable and easy to use
Vulnerability management is the most valuable feature because it lets you focus on the most critical vulnerabilities. That's the important thing. Here in Serbia, there are not so many companies that have too many firewalls inside one company. So, they usually don't buy this model for Firewall Assurance unless there is some compliance. So you can prove that your firewalls are compliant. So, that model is not so important here in Serbia. It's for bigger companies. So, they usually buy network assurance to build the model of the network and vulnerability management to focus on the most important vulnerabilities. Moreover, Skybox can collect data for many vendors. From the endpoint protection vendors to the network equipment vendors to other security vendors. So, it supports more than one hundred vendors to collect data from them.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The features that I have found most valuable with Skybox Security Suite, and this is because I work on the security side, are the firewall assurance, the change manager and the vulnerability control. These three features are the most impressive from Skybox Security."
"It has a good policy management feature and can provide customers with good quality outputs."
"Skybox allows organizations to reprioritize the vulnerability they attempt to patch and mitigate, based on the contextual awareness of the network."
"It's very supportive and very user-friendly."
"We are currently working on rule review and compliance. The logging features are good."
"Correlates logs and threats and prioritizes; provides network maps;p provides change result context and resulting vulnerability."
"We use Network Assurance for network visualisation and troubleshooting."
"It can be integrated with a vulnerability management solution. When a client comes, apart from pitching network and firewall change management, we are recommending having vulnerability management. So, rather than just having the audit of the firewall, they can integrate it with their vulnerability management solution, which could be Rapid7, Qualys, or any other solution. This provides them the most value out of the platform. That is the way we are approaching our customer base."
"The Topology Map, which feeds into our SecureChange - the latter being an automation platform - there's a lot of synergy between the two."
"In our current environment, the most valuable feature from Tufin is their Network Map."
"It has allowed us to be more efficient in our processing of firewall requests."
"It made us look at security policies more holistically."
"The most valuable features are the GUI interface and the API."
"This solution has helped us with compliance because we're able to map out certain firewall rules against compliance requirements, and we're able to write reports to show us exactly what our firewalls look like in those areas."
"The automated reporting on a regular basis is helping us to be compliant with legal requirements."
"Tufin has made handling firewall rule request tickets more centralized and easier to manage."

Cons

"I've had issues with licensing where, when they were expiring and I asked for the updated licenses, I would the wrong ones. I think their process needs to be straightened out a little bit - I don't know if they fixed it already, it has been awhile. It wasn't as straightforward as it could have been."
"The price is costly, and I hope they can reduce the cost."
"The vendor's support is terrible."
"Skybox should improve their UX features by making them easier to use."
"There is room for improvement in the technical support."
"It's expensive."
"Skybox Security Suite can improve the change management module. It is the one part of the tool that is used with the firewall devices and you have a change management module that is used to record changes of all firewalls in the company. It's not compatible with all brands, this is where they can improve the solution."
"The solution needs to move improve its interface to a full web browser version that is more accessible and doesn't require installation for use."
"We need to implement micro-segmentation in our infrastructure, and we are using Cisco ACI. However, we are facing an issue with Tufin, as it does not currently support integration with ACI for micro-segmentation, even though it is advertised as such."
"We found some bugs on the software, but we're working with tech support to fix them."
"They are sort of at the pilot stage on some of their products. I saw the Orca and Iris products yesterday. My initial impression of these products were that they were good products, but I felt like some of their features overlapped with SecureTrack and SecureChange, which they are already doing. So, I just wondered what direction they're going in? I understand that they are cloud products, but are these security products going to overlap each other's features at some point? This is my initial concern."
"The documentation site is horrible as well. It has a tree structure, and you really get lost quite easily."
"Customizing it can be a little tricky, but that depends on your use cases."
"It needs better reporting with more graphics and more pie charts, so management can understand details. The reports that are done now are full of data and management would like to have an image to help understand, right away, what the reports are saying."
"A big improvement would be on the USP policy. If we could use Palo Alto to take those zone names and auto import them into the policy, then just do the policy based on the zone names instead of having to put in every single subnet."
"We want to have the ability for a ticket requester to add somebody, or to give somebody view rights to their ticket."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I think for the cost, what we got definitely is worth it. The only caution I would give is that whenever you license for Firewall Assurance at the same time, for some weird reason, you have to get one Network Assurance license, just to manage one firewall. That's a little bit of overkill. But otherwise, in general, the pricing is fairly okay."
"The pricing is high, and the licensing model needs more flexibility."
"The price of the Skybox Security Suite can be expensive."
"Pricing is on the higher side. In terms of licensing, you should buy the complete suite rather than buying only the Change Manager. I think Change Manager with Vulnerability Control is something that would be interesting to look at."
"The price is not expensive."
"Currently, the licensing costs me about $300 USD for the year. This is a huge amount for my environment."
"When compared with other companies, the license is more costly."
"With licensing, the number of network nodes becomes very expensive to the point where you have to rationalize if the tools are warranted anymore."
"I had a bad experience with the financial department, and the price is too high. The software does work and does the job. The solution is worth the money. If I had a different partner to implement the solution, it would have been worth the price."
"We did look at less expensive solutions than Tufin, but being a corporation, this solution made sense."
"Pricing played a big part here... The customer had evaluated other products but, due to price as well as support, they chose Tufin."
"Our evaluation showed that Tufin's features were on par with AlgoSec, but Tufin was the better financial choice."
"There are ways to deploy the license to different types of firewall. However, if we decide to change the physical brand of the firewall, we need to go back to Tufin and modify the licensing. This is a hassle."
"The licensing costs are around $250,000 to $300,000."
"This solution helped us to reduce the time it takes to make changes. We used to spend up to an hour to do a change, and now, it's around five minutes."
"The cost is pretty high. It's close to seven figures."
