Robust protection has blocked external threats and provides clear visibility into user activity
Sophos Firewall offers multiple features, including IPS, IDS, ATP, NDR, XOps, web protection, application protection, web server protection, and many more. Out of all those features, I find web protection and application protection to be very helpful and valuable in my daily work. Sophos Firewall has positively impacted my organization by preventing outside threats, allowing me to easily monitor my users, and configuring any rule for any user regarding what they need to use and what I am restricting for the particular user. I can share that it has improved productivity because if anyone could ransom my network, they could demand money to decrypt the files, thus saving us money, time, and providing reliability.

I use it mostly for VPN and for some firewall solutions When considering my main use case with VPN, I can say that I got the Zyxel Unified Security Gateway, and it works fine. However, we are thinking about using a different solution based on open source because Zyxel Unified Security Gateway…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Most of the features Sophos XG has are valuable. However, if I have two different ISP, I'm able to create an automatic switch between the two ISPs. I can do the same thing for the cloud as well. If I have two subnets coming from the cloud, I'm able to create a type of switch between both of them where if there is traffic on one and has the traffic drop, I'm able to switch to the other ISP without any problems. It's a normal feature and I get to enjoy the ability to switch between services with no issues."
"Pricing is very competitive, much cheaper compared to other brands like Palo Alto, Check Point, and Fortinet."
"Web filtering is easy enough to deploy, manage, or make exceptions to."
"Sophos is a comprehensive solution which allows me to configure all the attendant products, such as Sophos' firewall, Endpoint and Encryption features, and a nice feature of Sophos is that it offers in sync and heartbeat security."
"It allowed our clients to log in remotely and has also helped us with outbound and inbound account management, managing the usage of the sites, and helping to control internet usage during productive hours."
"So far, I'm happy that they have recently added a firewall role, so I feel a little more comfortable with the security. The threat management is good."
"The two most valuable feature of Sophos XG is, one the option to filter according to different applications and two, the integration with the Active Directory."
"The solution is very easy to understand, it's simple to set up the firewall and policies, setting rules is very easy on Sophos as compared to other solutions, the product offers many great features, technical support is very good, the initial setup is easy, we have found the solution to be very stable, and a company can easily scale the product if they need to."
"This is a capable appliance and the standard features work well for us."
"The most valuable features of the solution stem from web filtering, malware protection, and antivirus."
"The Zyxel Unified Security Gateway solution is stable and does its job effectively."
"The cost is very low."
"The solution can scale well."

Cons

"Level one technical support is not good at all and needs to be improved."
"The VPN features can be improved. Due to covid-19, we have a lot of employees that work from home and we need better VPN capabilities."
"Even though things work on the back end, we have encountered bugs in the solution."
"In Sophos XG, the throughput for larger networks is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"One area where Sophos XG could improve is in its patch management system."
"The support service level agreement in regard to the amount of time needed to upgrade things is too low. It should be higher."
"The interface of Sophos XG could be improved. I would prefer the Sophos XG to have an interface for the technician who is setting it up similar to the Sophos SG."
"The reaction time of the GUI is terrible when compared to other manufacturers."
"The integration capability is quite challenging. The system is very complicated, and many features are hidden."
"Although manageable, the user interface is a little bit slow and could be improved. The advanced UI allows me to do whatever I want, but this is where the issue of speed exists."
"The product has some scalability and data management issues where improvements are required."
"Sometimes it reboots when you least expect it, and that's the main issue."
"I have never seen it in any company that I've worked with before, and I would advise other companies not to buy it."
