Sync to Central and edge protection mitigate my risk in our branch offices
The level of tech support depends on who you get. There are some techs that just read the script and ask you if you’ve rebooted, but once you get past that - or if you have a very technical issue - the support is great. They really know the product and get you up and running again ASAP.

Experience improved integration and cost-efficiency while facing support challenges
The best features of VxRail are its compatibility with VMware, its hyper-converged solution capabilities, and its single line of support. These are the most beneficial aspects of VxRail. I switched from the previous HP solution to Dell solution because it was a good decision. With HP servers, we dealt with a vendor for the compute servers, another vendor for the storage servers, and another vendor for the networking, which required us to manage multiple vendors. Now, we have a single team who can handle VxRail and a single line of support. We don't need anything other than that, and these are the differences we noticed after we switched.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Sync to Central and edge protection mitigate my risk in our branch offices. All services that need to be local to the user exist on local servers. Users run applications and access data locally while the data is constantly being synced to Central, and protected. If an edge device fails, we can recover quickly."
"That is why Riverbed SteelFusion has delivered a masterclass technology that not only abstracted and virtualized the storage vendors’ unique logical storage structures, it has made it logically closer and seamless to the branch applications from a performance and experience perspective."
"VxRail is an agile solution with easily scalable, simplify operations with software driven automation and lower operational cost."
"The solution is easy to use, and when turning on a server or a machine that is required for deployment or quality assurance, the dynamic deployment of resources is good."
"This solution optimizes our clients' resources."
"The update capability of VxRail is crucial for us."
"The support has been excellent, especially if you compare it to IBM."
"We like the design and that it meets data storage needs."
"My customers use it for VDI. It has been very usable and very fast to use with VDI. On the VxRail side also, it has been very fast."
"With VxRail, everything comes in one box, including licensing, Dell EMC and VMware — it's nice and simple."

Cons

"Setting up disks for use is a multi-step process that could use some refinement. Setting up a core-to-core replication or DR strategy is also cumbersome."
"The technical support is good but could be better."
"We believe Dell's vShpere support falls short of the mark."
"During code upgrades, VxRail can be sensitive."
"The upgrade packages require a lot of bandwidth. This could be reduced for an improved experience."
"The product's integration could be improved. Its price is also a bit of a challenge, particularly if you want extra features or higher performance."
"The setup requires a significant amount of expertise, as end customers can’t do it themselves. It must be done by certified partners."
"It still has some maturity to grow. It needs to be more tightly integrated with its own family of products. It has shown that it is open with the other products within the market, through its stack, but it needs to have the proof in the market (with use-cases), and it has to have the scalability with the integration."
"The solution's setup is a bit complex, and the complexity needs to be reduced."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Price is an issue – this is expensive stuff. My advice is to beat up Riverbed as much as possible on price. These things are expensive and there is room for negotiation."
"The product is expensive compared to other solutions."
"Fees vary by license type."
"VxRail is expensive because it's based on VMware and V-SAN. The price is not the cheapest. The technical support is expensive, but it is a good service."
"More cost-effective than Nutanix."
"Be mindful of your storage needs now and for the future."
"Licensing and price for this solution is reasonable."
"I live in Brazil, and my customers are from Brazil. It is quite an expensive solution. It is more expensive than the traditional environment."
"The price is a little bit on the higher side but the system and management are so quick and easy that it's worth it for the customer."
