Remote management capability ensures efficient security implementation for endpoints and servers
I use Symantec Endpoint Encryption for endpoint and server security. My current role involves preparing a design document for implementing security features for the product Symantec Endpoint Encryption is easy to use and manage. The solution's remote management capability is helpful, and it…

Reliable and stable with the ability to encrypt external memory
The initial setup was very simple. We were migrating and we had to follow a guide. The installation guide was great. It was simple to follow, and, as long as we did, all we had to do was try out some tests. For the home environment, deployment took two or three days. However, if a company is going into production then it may take a bit more time. On the client-side, there will be a firewall, a server, and many other things in the environment to contend with. It may take five to ten days to deploy if you're talking about deploying on a production site. In house, we handled it, as I said, in two to three days. After installation, it requires about two to three engineers to handle the maintenance due to the production activity.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This solution has helped to increase staff productivity."
"The systems are quite integrated."
"The solution was stable and did not crash."
"The encryption feature is very good."
"We have been very satisfied with the solution's security capabilities."
"We find the dashboard, endpoint mobile encryption, and email encryption valuable."
"You get updates and other encrypted files easily."
"In general terms, it is working properly and according to our expectations, and the comfort of feeling secure is the most valuable."
"The solution is reliable and stable. You can edit it and it's flexible."
"In terms of file and data-level encryption capabilities, I'd say it is probably the best on the market."

Cons

"The program's disk encryption is not very friendly with Microsoft OS updates. We have a problem with updates failing unless we use a time-consuming work-around."
"From an administration point of view, maybe it would be ideal to have it centrally managed."
"It was hard to install and took us about three months."
"I think that they should improve the on-premises version to include the manageability and simplicity that is available on the cloud."
"I would like them to have integration with a wider range of non-Symantec products."
"More features need to be included in the encryption software."
"From an administration point of view, maybe it would be ideal to have it centrally managed."
"If for example, a user forgets the endpoint key, they cannot access their data. We need a support team that is a single point of contact for the IT entity to be trained and to have documentation for troubleshooting and managing the solution."
"The solution really needs to improve the data pile. With the pile, if we could also do a column-level encryption or something like third-level encryptions that would be great. It would be a slight variation of same product."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing costs yearly are $5000."
"Although the performance and stability of this solution are good, our challenge is the price tag. You buy the solution once, but you also have to keep on buying the licenses yearly."
"It can be expensive. However, if you plan to scale or are at a large enterprise company, this product could be what you need."
"There is a license required for this solution."
"The cost of this solution is a little on the higher side."
"The license is not very expensive."
"Symantec Endpoint Encryption is not expensive."
"Depending on how many modules you will use (up to five) the licensing will be more expensive."
"I'm unsure of the exact pricing of the licensing, but I'd estimate we pay approximately $5-7,000. There are licensing as well as support costs and other ancillary fees."
