Centralized protection has transformed email security and incident investigations by reducing false positives and improving behavioral threat detection
The challenges include the challenge of finalizing a product that has all the security features or capabilities that are usually required. For example, if there is an EDR platform that's just monitoring IDS signatures, it won't be as beneficial as one with behavioral monitoring and other critical aspects required according to the best practices of the industry. Additionally, if there is a product that can provide a centralized view Trend Vision One does, it really grabs the customer's interest because customers usually don't have to buy separate EDR, XDR, or SIEM solutions or a console for their SOC analyst or email security team. These challenges consist of managing multiple teams and products. Trend Micro Email Security comes in and solves these problems.Trend Micro Email Security is generally a bit more difficult to implement compared to the rest of the solutions such as network security modules or EDR modules, which are much easier. Trend Micro Email Security has some complexities in implementation, but there aren't any significant shortcomings that require Trend Micro to improve.

Inexpensive, with good email security, but the technical support could be improved
We don't have as many problems with email security. They have some areas that could be improved. For example, we also use this solution for email encryption, which was clunky and could be improved, but the email security itself has been excellent. The web interface works well but the Outlook plug-in has been problematic. We've had to uninstall/reinstall it. On some Outlook clients (including mine), it causes Outlook to stop responding. I disabled the Outlook plug-in and only use the web interface.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Trend Vision One is one of the best XDRs that has been introduced to the market, with almost 14 applications integrated into a single console, including mobile device management, network security, endpoint security, and cloud app security, all with a really good GUI."
"The product is quite strong, and that is one reason most clients are replacing their existing email security solutions with it."
"The most valuable features of the solution are spam protection and email continuity."
"The technical support is good."
"I find the anti-phishing and anti-spam features most valuable because they reduce false positives and enhance security."
"I have experience with Trend Micro Email Security product and I can believe Trend Micro Email Security is excellent and scores very well; it is better in comparison to Microsoft Windows Defender or Microsoft Office 365."
"Trend Micro Email Security has a feature for secure protection of OneDrive, Google Drive, and CloudApp security."
"Trend Micro constantly releases new versions and patches based on evolving needs."
"They do a better job of determining what's real and what's not than most of the other solutions we have tried, and it's been very painless to use."

Cons

"For support from Trend Micro, I would give maybe 20%."
"The capacity handling and the scalability of the solution need to be improved since I feel Trend Micro lacks in such areas."
"Sometimes malicious email gets past the email gateway."
"The solution's interface, which we get from an admin perspective, sometimes gets confusing."
"It was crucial because if remediation can be done in one or two clicks, in Trend, we have to do at least eight clicks to achieve the same result."
"The solution's configuration policy should be easier."
"Trend Micro Email Security could improve by advancing its artificial intelligence in email security. There are rules that have to be configured. There should be less configuring."
"In our company, we found out that the solution wasn't well-tested by Trend Micro, resulting in a performance and bandwidth problem."
"They have some areas that could be improved. For example, we also use this solution for email encryption, which was clunky and could be improved, but the email security itself has been excellent."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool must improve its pricing."
"Trend Micro Email Security is not an expensive solution."
"The solution is inexpensive so we recommend it to small to mid-sized businesses."
"It is expensive. The cost is per box, and it depends on how big your environment is. Prices range from 11 to 12 dollars for licenses and can fluctuate up and down, but for environments with 4,000 to 5,000 users, it can be between 6 to 8 dollars."
"In terms of pricing, I believe they provide excellent value."
