What is our primary use case?
We are using Juniper's wireless access points for IoT devices in hardware warehouses. We also use them in multiple office locations, allowing us to manage everything in a single pane of glass. That's why we opted for Juniper's solution.
What is most valuable?
The valuable features depend on the specific needs of our customers. For example, if a customer asks for Mist solution and has specific preferences, we offer the ERC (Enterprise Readiness Certification). At the same time, I'm also working with Aruba on a Proof of Concept (POC).
We provide our customers with different options and let them choose their preferred OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). Based on their experience and feedback, both Aruba and Juniper's Mist offer similar technology and feature sets for network usability. Ultimately, we let the customer decide.
It is a stable solution. According to my customers, the AI capabilities of Mist Wireless are superior to other OEMs.
What needs improvement?
Earlier, there were some issues. Initially, managing the network was quite challenging, and the user interface for the dashboard was not as good.
The problem was that the switch behaved very weirdly. It was not able to integrate or recognize its own components. There were also time synchronization issues. If it came up on the switches, it caused the network to go down. We faced a couple of cases, but they resolved it.
Moreover, there is room for improvement in terms of support and installation.
For how long have I used the solution?
It's been almost nine years. The version and model depend on the customer's ask. We generally use models ranging from e21 to e43. All these access points are managed on their Cloud platform.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution was a bit unstable previously, but now it's stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is a scalable solution. Our clients are mostly enterprise businesses.
How are customer service and support?
Customer service and support are okay. The response time could be faster.
But Cisco offers better support.
How would you rate customer service and support?
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is difficult compared to other solutions like Cisco and Aruba.
The difficulty is in the integration with their switches. It's a bit difficult, especially when it comes to wireless integration with the existing switches. In this regard, Aruba performs better. I'm not saying we can't do it with Juniper, but the ease of integrating it with other OEMs' products is declining.
Moreover, it requires maintenance. Generally, we offer managed services. Maintenance depends on the size of the network infrastructure. Generally, one person is enough.
What about the implementation team?
Usually, we have two to three engineers and one architect for the deployment process.
The deployment is a matter of days, but with our skilled engineers, we can handle it. If the user is trained, we can do it, but not everyone can.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Compared to Cisco, the pricing is cheap. Customers have to pay for yearly licenses.
What other advice do I have?
Just evaluate all these three OEMs: Cisco, Aruba, and Juniper. These are the three major OEMs. And better, like, when we talk about a network and how you can integrate AI in your network, then you can check that one with Aruba as well as Juniper or Cisco. So here, in this case, Aruba and Cisco as Juniper is leading that, and we also have a really good product, and Juniper also has a very good product. So first, evaluate all the options before making a decision.
Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten. There is room for improvement in support and installation.
