With 10 years of experience with the product, I think the biggest advantage is that it is easier to maintain than Oracle.
MariaDB on CentOS offers a familiar experience almost identical to MySQL, with enhanced performance and features, and the advantage of no license costs. Although maintenance is easier than Oracle, technical support is inadequate, and the default version may lag. There are challenges such as backward compatibility issues and memory problems. Despite this, its positive impact and open-source benefits make it appealing, provided one manages Oracle-specific functionality rewriting.
