What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is monitoring in a hybrid server environment, with Windows and Unix operating systems. Also, network devices with their interfaces. 

We also make use of the following functionality:

  • Determining relationships between network devices and servers
  • Finding the root cause of the problems easily
  • Notification and SLA reports

How has it helped my organization?

This solution has improved our organization because we gain time by simplifying the root cause analysis. We can easily operate monitoring activities, which decreases operational costs. 

The features for creating a business service model and the Business Process Monitor (BPM) help us to understand how our IT services work. We can customize business-related metrics.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is that it is an all-in-one monitoring system. It handles a server, network devices, log management, and remote connections.

Some other features we find valuable are:

  • Easy to deploy and easy to extend.
  • Ready to use application plug-ins like SAP, VMware, and Weblogic
  • Topology-based monitoring
  • Business model, service-based monitoring

What needs improvement?

The automation for remediation needs to be improved.

Improvements are needed for server and network discovery, including service-based discovery.

I would like to see the following features in the next release:

    • Artificial Intelligence (AI) for event management
    • Network Automation for configuration back-up of network devices
    • Security compliance analysis and reporting

    This is a high-performance solution and is easy to scale any size.

    How are customer service and support?

    The Pandora FMS customer and technical support team are responsive and very quick.

    I changed solutions because Pandora FMS is an all-in-one solution that is cost-efficient.

    How was the initial setup?

    This initial setup is easy. It is very simple and the documentation is helpful.

    The support team was very responsive when we had questions during implementation.

    What about the implementation team?

    We used an in-house team for implementation.

    What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

    Pandora FMS is easy to implement and the pricing of licenses is competitive.

    Which other solutions did I evaluate?

    We evaluated several products including Nagios XI, HP OpenView, Zabbix, and ManageEngine.

    but I think it would also be great if PANDORA fms had a very basic version or for small businesses for free.

    Our primary use case for this solution is to monitor our devices.

    How has it helped my organization?

    Thanks to this software and to the work of the support team, we have everything under control. It was simple and easy.

    What is most valuable?

    The most valuable features are its intricate alarm system and the simplicity of the license.

    What needs improvement?

    In the future, we may have double the number of devices, and we do not want to have any issues with performance in the data display.

    For how long have I used the solution?

    One to three years.

    What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

    Pandora FMS is very scalable due to the great facilities it provides for it. I think it depends more on the servers that host it, as opposed to the product itself.

    How are customer service and technical support?

    I really like the technical service, and they have helped a lot with the implementation. The support team contacts the development teams to solve problems in record time.

    Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

    I've never worked with another tool. We saw the information about this product on its blog, and we decided to take the risk and started using it.

    How was the initial setup?

    On this issue, I think it is better to have technical assistance. I am not very good at this sort of thing. It happens to me with everything. 

    What about the implementation team?

    We implemented this solution in-house, with help from their support team.

    What was our ROI?

    The ROI for this solution was above expectations.

    What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

    The license part is the best. Only one payment and it includes support, updates, new versions, and access to the complete library of plugins except for SAP and z/OS.

    I love the simplicity of the license. This makes it easy to work, with no fear of being asked for more money all the time.

    Which other solutions did I evaluate?

    We evaluated a couple of other solutions before settling on this one. They were Nagios and Zabbix, and they were too complicated at first sight.
