Data protection has prevented leaks and secures encrypted communication across departments
Pros and Cons
  • "Detection and prevention of data loss is very crucial and important in every organization, and I believe that Proofpoint Enterprise DLP has strong capability for this task."

What is our primary use case?

Proofpoint Enterprise DLP is deployed in my infrastructure. I have experience with several policies for Proofpoint Enterprise DLP, such as Prime AP and APIC policy for credit card numbers and sensitive documents policies. These policies have been enabled in Proofpoint Enterprise DLP to prevent data from leaving our organization. These policies, such as DLP policies for our devices, ensure that data cannot be copied from the company's hotel or company device to personal devices.

I have implemented policies where, for instance, if employees attempt to bypass sensitive document protections or any card-related or banking-related materials, the system intervenes. For example, if our finance team attempts to send financial documents to another team such as sales or any other department, we have enabled the policy for email encryption so the content cannot be transmitted between channels. Detection and prevention of data loss is very crucial and important in every organization, and I believe that Proofpoint Enterprise DLP has strong capability for this task.

    What is most valuable?

The encryption feature is related to DLP offerings, and I believe that this is the best feature. The second feature is email encryption, which ensures the domain cannot be transmitted between channels. Nowadays, device compliance and device enrollment are also important.

The encryption feature is very valuable for us, ensuring that nothing can be intercepted between channels and preventing hackers from accessing our communications. These encryption features are truly helpful for our organization in day-to-day tasks.

As an infrastructure engineer and infrastructure architect, I can say that the features Proofpoint Enterprise DLP offers are quite comprehensive to meet our infrastructure requirements. Proofpoint Enterprise DLP database features help with file optimization, which eventually helps us provide validated data, reduce data leaks, and improve compliance. It captures most of our security requirements and what our infrastructure needs.

Governance and security are crucial elements. I assume it is similar to any other product where applications might include sandboxing. For instance, if we have a scenario to capture illegitimate IPs, those IPs are stored to AI agents, which I believe is very helpful for DLP AI capabilities. The system can block these IPs and help us automate our day-to-day tasks.

Adaptive policy enforcement has a very crucial role in setting policies in Proofpoint Enterprise DLP because these are the main features. This is a very important and effective feature platform because we can cover most infrastructure resources, whether they are in the cloud or not. I have experienced features required by enterprise infrastructure, so we will not need to purchase solutions from third parties or standalone solutions for utility equipment for infrastructure hygiene and compliance.

    What needs improvement?

I cannot determine if there are any improvements needed at this time. I appreciate your response.

I cannot actually report any issues. It seems the product captures all the features and services that a company or infrastructure requires.

I do not believe there are any improvements needed right now.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Proofpoint Enterprise DLP for more than five years. I have experience with particular policies, and they are actually using different products for their infrastructure to provide secure and authorized environments. I had security experience in Proofpoint Enterprise DLP and their features.

AI-driven data protection has improved risk visibility and now needs stronger IAM integration
    Pros and Cons
    • "Proofpoint Enterprise DLP sounds to be great software, and it feels to me that it is a strong shift in how DLP is evolving."
    • "I feel Proofpoint Enterprise DLP is quite advanced, but there are a few areas for improvement."

What is our primary use case?

Something that stood out to me most from the seminar is how they are integrating AI with Proofpoint Enterprise DLP and that is very interesting, especially in the current time where AI is affecting so much of data loss. I think that is a very good feature.

Something that we have been seeing recently in the company is how the users and the people at the company are using AI and how that can affect or sometimes leak company data, which is definitely not good in terms of client privacy. Something that can help us catch who is using AI, not company-affiliated AI, is crucial so that we can ensure privacy and protect client data.

    What is most valuable?

The best features that Proofpoint Enterprise DLP offers, based on what I learned from the seminar, include user behavior analysis, content and context awareness features, and cross-channel visibility with email, cloud, and endpoints all covered in one view. Adaptive risk scoring is valuable as well because it helps prioritize real threats instead of alert fatigue.

I feel that the features of Proofpoint Enterprise DLP are good, especially for our company. Data is not just sitting in one place; it moves across, and having everything visible in one place gives us more visibility. Controls are stronger on access and this adds control on usage. For adaptive risk scoring, this is powerful because we can make context-aware decisions.

    What needs improvement?

I feel Proofpoint Enterprise DLP is quite advanced, but there are a few areas for improvement. Since I am in IAM, stronger IAM integration could help us or more transparency in AI decisions and AI-driven risk scoring would be beneficial. Better workflow automation so that we have to do less manual chasing would be good.

A smoother onboarding or learning curve would be something that would be helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for about eight months.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I feel it appears to be highly scalable, especially for larger enterprises. It is cloud-native, handles high data volume, is centrally managed, and has elastic scaling. Overall, it does seem well-suited for large distributed environments.

How are customer service and support?

I have heard that the customer support for Proofpoint Enterprise DLP is generally positive. Many use cases report the support to be responsive and helpful, and it is well-rated in the market as well. I believe it is good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have had exposure to Symantec DLP, which is more of a rule-heavy reactive approach compared to something more context-aware and proactive like Proofpoint Enterprise DLP features with better prioritization and efficiency for analysis.

    How was the initial setup?

Based on what I learned, I feel Proofpoint Enterprise DLP appears quite effective, especially because it combines user behavior and context awareness rather than relying on static rules alone. Its real strength is shifting DLP from reactive detection to more proactive risk identification, though its effectiveness would still depend on how well it is integrated and tuned within the organization.

    What about the implementation team?

I am not sure if I am in a position of giving advice to others looking into Proofpoint Enterprise DLP, but I would say to treat it as a strategic and context-aware DLP tool and not just as a regular rule engine. I feel that they will get much better results.

    What was our ROI?

I definitely feel time would be saved because most of the regular routine tasks will be automated. That is a plus.

What other advice do I have?

Adaptive policy enforcement basically means policies do not act the same way for every user or every situation. For an analyst, it will allow them to focus on high-risk incidents while automating routine decisions.

The unified platform aspect of Proofpoint Enterprise DLP improves visibility, reduces complexity, and makes security operations more effective.

Proofpoint Enterprise DLP sounds to be great software, and it feels to me that it is a strong shift in how DLP is evolving. Instead of just enforcing rules, it is moving forward, understanding user behavior and intent, which is much closer to how real data risks happen. If implemented well, it is less about blocking everything and more about making smarter risk-based decisions, which is where I think DLP needs to go. I would rate this review a seven out of ten.

We have seen a return on investment from using Proofpoint Enterprise DLP, by virtue of how few incidents we have had related to email compromise.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I don't recall if I evaluated other options before choosing Proofpoint Enterprise DLP.

What other advice do I have?

If one is looking for a bulletproof solution, then Proofpoint Enterprise DLP is the answer.

I feel confident enough in the solution's effectiveness in detecting and preventing threats through the analysis of email content and user behavior that I would choose to keep it, even if we switch to Microsoft E5 licenses, and we have had no incidents to speak of related to malicious attachments or malware infections.

I don't really see the unified platform aspect of Proofpoint Enterprise DLP as unified. It's an additional layer, and we are okay with that additional layer of security.

DLP monitoring has prevented email data leaks and protects sensitive corporate documents
      Pros and Cons
      • "It has saved many incidents from occurring as a result of data leaks of the organization, which is important for taking strict action."
      • "It is not one hundred percent reliable, but I believe it is easy for saving time for the user regarding the accuracy and reliability of the AI output in Proofpoint Enterprise DLP."

What is our primary use case?

I work as a SOC cybersecurity analyst at EYGDS. We have different mailboxes for analyzing DLP cases, and we conduct investigations for any data leaks from the company or any emails that have been sent to a user's personal Gmail, Yahoo.com, or other personal email accounts. If any sensitive data of the company is shared to a user's personal email or leaked, we work on that and raise an incident.

In one of my recent alerts that I worked on, the user had sent some company sensitive data, specifically a document which should have been used internally. He had sent that to his personal email for his learning purpose, but it was a data leak. We took sufficient action for that user and conducted the whole analysis, including determining from where he had done it and at what timing. The user was first informed not to do this, and as per the severity of the case, the user has been removed from the company.

      What is most valuable?

I have used Proofpoint Enterprise DLP three years back. It has saved many incidents from occurring as a result of data leaks of the organization, which is important for taking strict action. It saves risk and also the organization's time, and saving those incidents has positively impacted my team and the company.

      What needs improvement?

I do not have anything to add about the needed improvements or anything that could make my experience better, even if it is a small thing.

For how long have I used the solution?

It has been four years since I have been working in my current field.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is not one hundred percent reliable, but I believe it is easy for saving time for the user regarding the accuracy and reliability of the AI output in Proofpoint Enterprise DLP.

How are customer service and support?

We do not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

What other advice do I have?

I would not add anything else about the features I used, or about how it helped me with email investigations or managing incidents. I think Proofpoint Enterprise DLP's AI capabilities regarding governance and security are secure. I rate Proofpoint Enterprise DLP eight out of ten because it is saving the risk, meaning it is preventing the risk of the company getting a data leak, but there might be some drawback.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

      Private Cloud
