We are deploying a full OpenShift container platform infrastructure for a full DevOps lifecycle from developing to operation. We're developing all microservices with the persistence on ODF, so we need to perform a backup of those persistence services.
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
ODF's most valuable feature is its storage capabilities.
What needs improvement?
In the next release, I'd like Red Hat to add a fully-integrated Git repository inside the platform.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
ODF is pretty stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
ODF is totally scalable, and the scaling process is simple.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is simple enough, but beginners will find it complex.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The catalog list price is very expensive, but if you can directly negotiate with Red Hat, it's relatively well-priced.
What other advice do I have?
This is not a solution for beginners, they will suffer a lot in trying to use it. However, ODF is a competitive solution with a mix of complexity, power, and functionality. I'd give ODF a score of seven out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
