It is our endpoint protection. It gives us protection of our endpoint devices and is key to our security strategy.
How has it helped my organization?
What is most valuable?
Probably the ability to lockdown devices and ports on endpoints so that you can stop propagation of any virus if it's detected.
Moreover, the automated response capability in SentinelOne enhances security operations. It means I don't have to worry about having too many security people watching it because you can automate a lot of the tasks. It's like having an additional security analyst.
What needs improvement?
The performance utilization on the device that it's monitoring. This aspect needs improvement.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using it for two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I would rate the stability a ten out of ten. I've not had a problem. I've not seen it go down.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It's scalable in the form of it now covers mobile devices as well as a number of other different types of devices, not just Windows. Also, there's no limit as to how many devices you can install it on.
We plan to expand the number of devices/users as we get more people onboard or upgrade to more mobile devices; we will then increase the number of licenses for mobile devices.
We've got 450 licenses, but we've got about 375 devices and users currently.
I would rate the scalability a ten out of ten. There's not a product yet that I've found that I can't put it on, especially now that they've got the new release, which was the mobile agents.
How are customer service and support?
I've only had to deal with them once. I think there was just a little bit of confusion between whether it was an MSP that we were dealing with or SentinelOne directly. But other than that, it was fine.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We used McAfee before. McAfee was still more of a traditional antivirus. What we needed was endpoint protection where it looked at behaviors and analytics of the device itself, not just a bunch of antivirus profiles.
How was the initial setup?
It's easy to deploy. It's just an agent that you can either push out using group policy or you can manually install them. It's up to you.
- Deployment time: It depends on how many devices you're installing it on. To install on a device itself will take you minutes. If you're installing it on a couple of hundred devices, it may take you a bit longer.
- Deployment model: We have agents that are installed on-premise, but the main service is cloud-based. So, the management unit is within the cloud.
I just have the agents that sit local on my machines, but the main system itself is hosted by SentinelOne.
Maintenance for the product is done by different people. It's just agent updates. As updates come out for the agents, it gets pushed out automatically from within the SOC side of things.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It's obviously increased my cost when it comes to security management because I didn't have it before, and it isn't the cheapest one on the market. But at the same time, it has brought down my cybersecurity insurance.
There is probably about a 5% or 6% reduction in my cybersecurity insurance premiums.
I have it built in as part of an SOC solution. I don't know the cost of the product itself; I just know the total package, including SOC and so forth, that I paid for.
You can buy additional services on it. For the one that we bought, we just bought the product with the SOC services.
I would rate the pricing a three out of ten; one is very expensive, and ten is an absolutely cheap product.
It is quite expensive compared to some of the others.
What other advice do I have?
Overall, I would rate the solution a seven out of ten. I won't give it a ten. I've seen some others that I may next time decide to go with rather than SentinelOne.
