We mostly use the solution as a standard firewall and email protection.

The solution overall is fine.

It offers an easy initial setup.

We ultimately chose Sophos due to its good reputation and good price.

What needs improvement?

Part of the web application firewalling could be improved.

We'd always like the solution to be a bit less in terms of cost.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable and reliable. It offers good performance. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

I didn't need any support from Sophos. I can't speak to how they would be if someone required help.

The costs are reasonable. I'd rate them three out of five. They could be a bit cheaper, however, it's not too bad.

Sophos XGS is used by our customers as a firewall. It is a gateway or perimeter security device. We use content filtering for applications, bandwidth management, VPN, or as a web application firewall. We are using all of the features, such as authentication, captive portal, and single sign-on.

It is a next-generation firewall. It has all the security features and operates as a next-generation firewall for the company.

I can't recall coming across any missing features.

However, it's my understanding that you need to replace the firewall if you need to expand.

The Sophos support is bad. It needs to be improved. they are not helpful or responsive enough. The system for support is not that good. Sometimes they are not able to resolve the issue.

It offers a pretty simple and straightforward setup. It's not hard to manage the process.

The deployment is quick. If you have the skills, the firewall may only take a few minutes to set up.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is pretty reasonable. It's relatively cost-effective. 

There is a licensing fee the customer has to pay. The license is yearly. We have what I believe is a two-year agreement.

What other advice do I have?

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

The product is cost-effective and if you're not looking for high speed it's quite good.

We were using ESET prior to switching to Sophos. ESET was a very simple solution that was unable to detect malware or ransomware. We had an attack and needed to switch to a solution that supported ransomware.

The initial setup was very straightforward and took about one week to complete.

What about the implementation team?

We used an integrator to compete the deployment. We have a contract with them so we do not need any in-house team members for maintenance.

I would recommend this solution as it offers good protection.
