| Migration Specialist at a tech vendor with 10,001+ employees | 3.5 | I've used this for over a year for server and SQL migrations, finding it simplifies data protection. However, it needs better Linux compatibility, a GUI for SQL, and Windows 2016 support. Customer service is professional. |
| Senior Consultant at a tech services company with 5,001-10,000 employees | 4.0 | I've used this file replication solution for a year with no issues, finding setup straightforward and support good. It significantly reduced man-hours for managing file servers, offering a good ROI despite a $5000 initial cost. |
| Team Lead with 51-200 employees | 4.0 | I found Double-Take valuable for improving DR failover and its live test. Initial setup was easy, but deployment issues stemmed from poor documentation on ports. Tech support also needs better Windows skills. |
| Technical Services Manager at a tech services company with 51-200 employees | 5.0 | I've used this solution for 11 years, finding its real-time byte-level replication invaluable. Setup was easy, and I experienced no issues, praising its excellent customer service. It made my job much easier. |
Full server migration possibility and SQL migrations.
It gives us the possibility to migrate/protect customer servers and data in the simplest way.
For over a year.
Not such a good coverage of the most widely used Linux server distributions, so many issues happen while migrating these servers.
Still no official support for Windows 2016.
We are in contact with the technical and sales support and they provide professional services in all aspects.
We have been using different products for the migrations, like PlateSpin, AppZero, etc. We switched because of customer requests.
It depends on the product of Carbonite (Vision-Solutions before). But yes, in most cases it is really simple to handle the work.
To always think what they really need and don't buy overpriced license models. The sales support will find the best choice for your application.
We used PlateSpin or AppZero, or some manual migration techniques.
Consult with the company if this product is good for you and how they can handle the nonstandard situations with your setup.
File replication.
It takes less time to replicate files between 2 servers.
1 year.
No issue so far.
No issue so far.
Not in the pipeline to upgrade.
Good.
Technical Support:Good.
Yes, straightforward.
In-house.
Reduce man hour to manage file server.
Original setup cost- $5000; Running cost - $50.
Access the frequency and locality of the files required for replication.
In Version 7.xx the most valuable feature to me is being able to carry out a test full server failover in which case the primary server is still up and running.
Double-Take has greatly improved our disaster recovery failover time.
I have used Double-Take for over 4 years now.
Yes I encountered issues with deployment. The information provided in the guide just stated about 2 or 3 communication ports but even after these ports are enabled there are still issues with the 2 servers communicating via double-take. There are also issues during job creation. When all security is relaxed on the servers and firewalls it works fine. So we need more information as regards required windows services, communication and management ports, antivirus exclusion rules…etc
The solution in itself was stable but is very dependent on bandwith.
None.
The customer service rep I interacted with was very forth-coming and helpful. I will rate it very high.
Technical Support:I recommend that the support team improve on the windows skills. On several occasions they were unable to assist with *.msi issues that caused the double-take installer not to work.
The initial setup was very straight forward.
In-House.
Many as I am a consultant who does migrations but Real-time byte level replication.
Makes my job a lot easier
Failover of Linux which is in the new version. Maybe easier bandwidth sizing.

Veeam, Its not real-time and had lots of bottlenecks.
Easy for me as I worked for Vision for several years.
Implemented myself
Arcserve RHA, Veeam etc.
Get a professional in to install it so it is installed correctly and you can rest assured you have the multiple levels of recover ability you need.
