Has enabled seamless VM management and automated failover while support response needs improvement
For support issues, they help with the issue, but it takes a very long time. The reason is that they engage a very initial resource and then escalate to another level, and during these level escalations, our time is wasted. They do not understand the severity of the issue. They go through step-by-step and then go to the upper level. This may be their SOP, but we require instant support and instant resolution of the problem, so here VMware Live Recovery is lacking. They follow their SOP, but they initially engage very low-level personnel who are not able to answer or resolve the issue, so they escalate or take a very long time to resolve the issue. The main issue is to improve the approach of resolving solutions. I may not be able to suggest new features because in these recent months, I have not been very close to it as we are exploring different solutions.

Pros

"It takes less time to replicate files between two servers."
"In Version 7.xx the most valuable feature to me is being able to carry out a test full server failover in which case the primary server is still up and running."
"It gives us the possibility to migrate/protect customer servers and data in the simplest way."
"Customer Service: Second to none Technical Support: Second to none"
"The company was able to provide customers with the required RPO that was not possible with traditional backup solutions."

"I give VMware Live Recovery a rating of ten out of ten."
"Virtual Machine Recovery during DR situation, with automation and easy to use menus and options."
"SRM's best feature is automation."
"The most valuable feature is the integration with our Nutanix environment."
"Every feature is quite good, and we haven't faced any issues or complaints."
"In terms of resiliency, the most valuable aspect of SRM has been its effectiveness."

Cons

"Yes I encountered issues with deployment. The information provided in the guide just stated about 2 or 3 communication ports but even after these ports are enabled there are still issues with the 2 servers communicating via Double-Take."
"Not such a good coverage of the most widely used Linux server distributions, so many issues happen while migrating these servers."
"Zerto may be more cost efficient, so I’m not 100% sold, and may not need it at all."
"One thing which is lacking from the SRM is reporting."
"It would be good if this solution could integrate configuration management software such as Chef Infra."
"VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery could improve by enhancing the network bandwidth from the storage."
"Currently, there is a limitation of consolidating only 15 sites per SRM."
"The solution must provide better integration with third-party vendors."
"DR drill report is good but needs to be improved, and the replication monitoring feature is not available."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The cost of SRM is on par with market rates."
"VMware SRM is an expensive solution, and users need to pay extra costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"The price could be lower, in general. My clients pay for an annual license."
"We have a standard enterprise license for the solution."
"We pay a yearly licensing fee for VMware SRM, which is not very expensive."
"The price of VMware SRM depends on how many VMs the customer has to move. There is a difference between the standard and enterprise license. I'm presenting the standard license to my customers because the total of VMs is not more than 50. The customer needs only the standard license and the cost is very effective for him."
"It is about $3,000 a year for the 25 pack. The package gives you the ability to protect up to 25 virtual machines."
"The licensing costs are increasing."
