We have deployed Infoblox NIOS on-premises. There would definitely be challenges associated with the migration and all. However, it is definitely much easier. Once the device has been booted, we would be able to access it. It is not that hard to access the boxes during the initial implementation. There would definitely be patches needed in between because there are vulnerabilities that are always important to mitigate, and as this would be an internet-facing application such as DNS. We need to upgrade patches in the meanwhile because if there is any threat observed, they would release a new patch with the patch being upgraded. We definitely have to do an upgrade. Most probably, like in six months, Infoblox recommends going to a higher version to mitigate the threat. I would rate this product an 8 overall.
My advice for others looking into using Infoblox NIOS is that the product is quite niche, with a high licensing cost, so bigger enterprises should check with their technical account managers for the exact cost of implementation and procurement. It has a steep learning curve that may overwhelm a user initially, so getting certified with Infoblox NIOS is recommended.A big enterprise should always implement a solution that is highly scalable and supports complicated deployments with high customization. Infoblox offers all of these alongside built-in security parameters that a user can enable on demand, making it an overall good product to use as desired. I would give this product an overall rating of ten out of ten.

We monitor the performance and availability of Infoblox NIOS using external monitoring tools, specifically using Ekahau for monitoring. We handle disaster recovery and backup for Infoblox NIOS with a VMware backup solution that does differential backups, allowing us to restore at pretty much any time. We ensure compliance with regulations or industry standards using Infoblox NIOS through a DDI Infoblox portal, which has monitoring for how traffic comes in and goes out, as well as detecting any DNS attacks and threats. My advice for others looking into using Infoblox NIOS is that if the environment is large and you want a segmented, scalable network assignment along with DNS security, Infoblox NIOS is an all-in-one device. I would rate my overall experience with this product an eight out of ten.

My advice to others looking into using Infoblox NIOS is to treat it as core infrastructure, not just another tool. Design it with high redundancy and start with IPAM discipline. Invest in training early and automate gradually. Infoblox NIOS rewards structured thinking and long-term planning. It should be used properly and it turns network operations from reactive firefighting into calm, predictable execution. I would rate this product a 10 out of 10.
