The price point is higher because you are paying for a whole year in advance. They recently moved to subscription pricing. We did not have to pay annually before which used to be one of the benefits that people had from buying QuickBooks Desktop, they could purchase it and it would last for a couple of years and now it doesn't. However, everything is moving to a subscription model. If it is a subscription model then the option to pay for it monthly should be given as well. At least that is the feedback that I am receiving from people when I talk to them about the pricing. For small to medium businesses, I rate the price of QuickBooks Desktop a four out of ten. The price is high when you are starting out. If you need the inventory module then you will need QuickBooks Desktop until they fix their other version. a three. It's a pretty large expense to come out one time every year. And if you're just starting out and you need the inventory piece, and see, that's where I end up kind of having that problem is that if you need the inventory piece, you really do need to use QuickBooks Desktop until they get that fixed. And so that's a high price to pay for that one specific capability.
I would rate Quickbooks' pricing a ten, on a scale of one to ten, with one being expensive and ten being affordable. It is super affordable. If you are not familiar with accounting, you should partner with a QuickBooks consultant because most likely your frustrations with the system are going to be based on your lack of knowledge of how to build the processes. If you partner with an expert to set up the process, you will have a much better experience.
