It quietly runs in the background at the source to save bandwidth and allow users or admins to perform self-service restores if a device's data is lost, stolen, or hit by a ransomware attack. My company uses Dell PowerProtect Backup Services to automatically perform daily background backups for four to five hundred remote workers' laptops. Whenever a laptop is misplaced, stolen, or hit by ransomware, the IT admin uses the cloud console to instantly roll back the infected device files to a clean state from a snapshot taken at eight o'clock in the morning and completely bypass the ransomware. Dell PowerProtect Backup Services fits into my workflow by allowing me to restore back to normal when issues occur by restoring from a snapshot. During deployment, the admin pushes a lightweight agent to endpoints or connects SaaS applications via API. For management, instead of altering local storage, the team manages everything from a single pane of glass. When it comes to restore capabilities, the shift from traditionally pulling out tapes or searching for local drives to perform self-restoration has been transformed. With the help of the console, we can restore the data efficiently.
Dell PowerProtect Backup Services serves as our main solution for the backup and security of our network. It performs backups and controls everything from our physical servers to our virtual servers to even some of our edge devices that are out there just recording to ensure that they have a backup to restore and a backup for our incident response. We are just starting to deploy the integration between Azure and Dell PowerProtect Data Manager. The biggest thing with Dell PowerProtect data services is our integration with Office 365 that we have been using for a very long time now, and that has been a key part to allow us to recover OneDrive, recover SharePoint, and recover anything in an email that we lost or we thought we should keep for a longer term. Looking at Dell PowerProtect data from core, cloud, edge to edge, edge to cloud, edge to server as one utility tool, it allows us to do everything. It allows us to be at the cloud level, be at the edge level, and be in between at any stage in time. This allows us that seamless integration to have that single pane of glass to understand what is going on in our environment. We have one that is on-prem and then one that is in the cloud. Our cloud is for our Azure and Office 365 backups, and then locally, we have an on-prem version that does our servers and workstations.

Dell PowerProtect Backup Services is what we use in the development and testing environment to protect any virtual machines in the OpenShift environment and Kubernetes. Currently, Dell PowerProtect Backup Services is not installed in a production environment; it is only in the testing and developer environment, and we wish to install it in a production environment. I cannot say much about my experience in production since I do not have that experience yet.
We only use Dell PowerProtect Backup Services for our VM backups. We have a VM running in the office, and it backs up not just to our location, but it backs up to other locations, to a similar Dell PowerProtect Backup Services in a different location.
