How has it helped my organization?
Our previous event management solution had a complicated implementation (and thus required a good bit of historical knowledge to support) and was unstable. Evanios is much easier to understand once given a brief overview of the product.
It's been much more stable than our previous solution and we have been able to integrate 4-5 products (and counting) which were not able to be integrated before.
Troubleshooting of events from monitoring systems is also much easier and no longer requires very specific knowledge of different scripting\programming languages, logging in to multiple separate servers, etc.
What needs improvement?
As with any new software implementation, during the integration we found a couple of minor issues when integrating certain products (such as SCOM). However, each time this happened Evanios was very quick to identify the bug we were seeing, patch it and provide the new update set for us to install.
Also, during the evaluation of Evanios we found that they already had integrations with most of our larger monitoring tools, however they also stated that they would be able to create update sets to integrate certain products we used that they did not currently support. This proved to be very valuable for us because they were able to become an even better fit for our organization by creating update sets\integrations for PRTG, Quest Foglight, TIBCO and Thousand Eyes as well.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used it for nine months.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
We have not encountered any issues; deployment was straightforward. We planned with each individual team that was sending us data and were able to get their system integrated quickly, accomplishing each group's requirements.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We have not encountered any stability issues. Evanios has been 100% more stable than our previous event management solution. This is one of the main reasons we moved to Evanios; issues with stability in our prior platform.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
No issues with scalability. Rule and filter creation allows for very broad or very specific scope, whichever is required for the situation. This allows you to create a small number of rules to perform a function across all systems that will send alerts to Evanios, or get very specific where required to accomplish needed tasks.
How are customer service and technical support?
Customer Service:
Customer service is exceptional. During our time implementing and using Evanios, we have had very fast response times for support requests as well as feature enhancements.
Technical Support:
Technical support is exceptional; very fast response times and knowledgeable support staff. Any issues we have experienced were identified and a solution proposed\made available for implementation quickly.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
The product we used previously was complicated in its implementation and required specific configuration for each event you wanted to generate. It was also unstable and had a high cost. Evanios is simpler in its implementation; however, we also have much more capability than we did before due to the wide range of rules that can be created, as well as the ServiceNow integration. Our previous solution was purely SNMP, so Evanios has given us much more flexibility and allowed us to get more reliable data into ServiceNow.
How was the initial setup?
Initial setup was straightforward. We followed Evanios' guidance, fitting each product we needed to integrate into their rule methodology. We have a large number of monitoring systems integrated with Evanios; however, it is easy to focus on any one integration when developing\working with events.
What about the implementation team?
We used an in-house team and purchased PS hours from Evanios to assist with the design and implementation.
What was our ROI?
Incredible ROI: As soon as we switched to Evanios, we started seeing events that were being unknowingly suppressed in our previous solution. We have much more reliable communication between systems because our prior solution was SNMP only. We also have a growing number of systems integrated with Evanios, which were not possible to integrate with our previous solution. We also have less downtime due to the increased reliability, so fewer missed events, which is huge.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We had some specific contractual requirements for the purchase and Evanios worked with us to be sure we could come to an agreement that worked for both companies.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing this product, we evaluated BigPanda and the ServiceNow Event Management module.
What other advice do I have?
It is a great solution. I have very much enjoyed working with the software and company. I would also add that each group we have worked with internally to integrate their solution has been very pleased with the capabilities and ease of use of the software.
