What is our primary use case?
I am currently using Atlassian Jira for project management, and I have been using it for about eight years across two companies. I use it to create design documents for upcoming projects, where all features are listed, and I implement Agile methodology including sprints. Jira offers different types of charts such as burndown and capacity charts, and options for retrospectives, making project management and tracking effective.
What is most valuable?
Jira is an excellent tool for project management. It supports Agile methodology by allowing me to list features, divide them into subtasks, run sprints, and use poker planning for story estimation. I can maintain documentation, create design documents, and plan workflows and component connections. Jira provides clarity through various charts, including burndown and capacity charts, offering options for retrospectives. All these facilitate defect and feature tracking, effectively supporting my workflow management.
What needs improvement?
SourceTree is one of the best tools from a UI perspective. However, I would prefer if SourceTree could address merge conflicts more easily. Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code, providing a comprehensive tool for both development and code management, is favored because it can serve as both a development tool and a client for pushing or pulling code, resolving conflicts efficiently. It would be beneficial if SourceTree could offer similar integrated functionalities.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Atlassian Jira for almost eight years.

SourceTree is a very stable product. I have seen it being used widely since I started my career in 2012. There have been no lags or stability issues faced with SourceTree.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
SourceTree is a scalable product. Many large companies use SourceTree, and it is preferred by people.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have used the Git command line extensively and am very familiar with it from the past eight years. I haven't used SourceTree much, but my team members do. Microsoft Visual Studio Code is more commonly adopted because it integrates development and code management in one tool.
How was the initial setup?
Installation of SourceTree is very easy. It is an .exe file that I can simply run through a next, next, next process to install.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Both SourceTree and primary alternatives like Visual Studio Code are open-source, so there are no costs involved.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code are alternative solutions that my company is using more due to their comprehensive functionalities for development and code management.
What other advice do I have?
SourceTree is not a bad tool from a UI perspective. However, with Microsoft's innovation in tools like Visual Studio Code, which is open source, it is advisable to consider switching. Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code allow the fulfilling of both development and code management tasks in one tool, providing ease of use and broader functionalities. I would rate the overall solution a seven out of ten.
