The solution has good scalability. Microsoft licenses everything. If our clients use the server, they have to use Azure Cloud, and Office 365 would also come with it. It's all a gamut of products that they use. There are a couple of clients using AWS on the dev side. They have EC2 instances. All the enterprise servers are running on Microsoft servers.

The solution's updates and rollouts of the patches cause a lot of problems. There's no other way around it. Recently, we have also faced RDS and print server issues. One of our clients experienced some remote desktop service issues. These things keep happening with Microsoft. They have a patch, and then they have some other rollout that fixes it. The solution should be more consistent with its patching updates.

Stability is too generic for Microsoft.

The solution's scalability is not that bad. Exchange server-wise, even if you have the latest cumulative updates, you can easily update from one server to another. For example, we recently did an exchange server upgrade that involved two hops: from 2010 to 2019, and we had to do 2016 in between. We had to download a couple of cumulative updates and then move to 2019. The process was long, but the scalability is still there.

I rate the solution's scalability a seven out of ten.

We are a gold partner of Microsoft. We are also partners with VMWare, Citrix, Fortinet, and Cisco. On the hardware side, we are partners for Dell, HP Enterprise.

The solution's initial setup is a standard process for which we have Microsoft documentation. We never get to do much of the initial setup. We take care of mostly server upgrades and in-place upgrades. We have upgraded domain controllers on very few instances. The last one was about a year ago for a couple of clients.

Mostly, we do in-place upgrades, like moving a server version from 2016 to 2019 or 2022. These are all standard processes and usually go smoothly unless there are any major issues.

The solution’s pricing is expensive.

Microsoft Office is pretty good. We use Microsoft tools like Excel for spreadsheets and documentation. Other products in the Office 365 suite, like SharePoint and OneDrive, still need more improvements. There are a lot of breaks in the Microsoft Advisory Services, especially with SharePoint and OneDrive.

The solution is not targeting end-user consumers with respect to its pricing. The enterprise businesses have to stick to the solution, and they can get deals with resellers and other vendors who sell this product.

Overall, I rate the solution a seven to eight out of ten.

With DocAve Backup, we are using one component in DocAve, which is the storage optimization parts. It's actually an archive function. So some of our clients, they have a lot of data, like a quarter of a petabyte of data, in their 365 tenants. And that is very costly because the storage you get in your 365 tenants is based on the actual user you purchased from Microsoft. So with the Cloud archiving feature or storage optimization feature, you can copy data or archive data from your production tenant to cheaper storage within AvePoint. Leaving the stub files behind, and then you can use the recenter capabilities for end-user experience when it comes to restoring or retrieving data from the archive to get your data back. It's really user-friendly as well.

Our primary use case is an archiving feature. So we archive data. Moving data so it doesn't consume all the fast storage from Microsoft. We move data that hasn't been accessed for a while to cold storage, which is cheaper. So we don't need to purchase more storage from Microsoft.

The most valuable feature includes leaving the stub files behind and integrating that with the recenter feature.

The user experience needs a little refreshing touch. The admin UX could be more user-friendly. 

We have been using this solution for a year. We use the latest version. 

I would rate the stability a ten out of ten. 

I would rate the scalability a ten out of ten. It scales easily. 

Setting it up, it gets stuff happening that's easy, but you need to be very specific on what type of data you should migrate, and why, and when, and so on and so forth. 

So it's not like the cloud backup feature, which is two minutes. It's a bit more to take into consideration because when you move the data, it's out of the tenant. It's not an issue getting it back to the tenant; that's super easy. But it's better to do it right from the beginning. So it takes a bit more thought power.

The actual deployment, if we exclude the pre-study, took a few minutes. So all the solutions from AvePoint, since they are SaaS platforms, are super easy to set up. It's quick and robust. It doesn't take a lot of time. What people tend to run into is that they don't do a pre-study, they don't take into consideration what data I should archive and why not, and so on and so forth.

I have seen an ROI. 

Regarding CloudArchiver, you purchase per terabyte.

There are no additional costs to the standard license. 

I would suggest doing a POC. 

Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten.

I think the solution itself keeps up with everything else. Sometimes it would be nice if they could move a little bit quicker and have faster updates, but in terms of the features, it's absolutely fine and adequate.

The solution could also be cheaper.

I have been using this solution for 10 years.

The stability has always been very good.

The scalability has gotten better. The backup is exhaustive, depending on what you're backing up. I would say it's always been fine.

Technical support is very good. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would give it a 4.

It's quite expensive. It's not the cheapest solution out there.

I would rate this solution 8 out of 10. 

My advice is to plan for it and do it properly. Don't rush it.
